Duplicates maybe, but not getting messages, or getting them late has never been an issue for me on Verizon. I would definitely open a ticket with them about this. There's no excuse for text messaging not to work IMHO. I mean if they can process voice calls, why wouldn't they be able to process text messages? I've never understood the hiccups that occur with this.
From my days working in cellular this is how I understand the flow to work:
user on carrier A sends message ---> received by senders tower ---> tower sends to switch --> switch routes to carrier B via SS7 network --> carrier B switch sends message to receivers tower --> tower delivers to receivers handset --> receivers handset replies with an acknowledgment.
I don't understand why there ends up being so many problems.
