Droid Bionic 9/8/2011 Countdown Waiting Room

heh so far I have heard some stores only getting in like 6-7 units. I am not chancing it so I have an appt for the minute the doors open to get my phone and accessories.
Question...
If I were to go up to either Costco or the VZW store and order a phone that's on backorder, could I still pay for it and when it arrives just pick it up?
I have until Sept 26 to return my X2 to Costco but I have a backup Droid to use now, so I'm thinking of going up on release date and either exchanging it for the Bionic (just paying the difference) or reserving one if they're sold out. Anyone done this before at Costco?

Best thing to do is call or go down and talk to a rep at Costco. And they'll let you exchange the phone, no problem.

Good to hear it. I have one aside too from Verizon thanks to the better business bureau and around 8 bad phones and horrible tech support

Since May not a day. Did I put a day? I'll go look and update it. It was 5 Charges, 2 Fascinates and my original purchased phone which was a Continuum.
Less than 4 days until I'm holding this bad boy in my hands. love my OG, and we're both excited about the new member to our family

LOL I was going to say the same thing....there was 1 constant in what was wrong, it was sammy phones for all of them. If he had a apple or HTC mixed in to his failed devices it would be dumb luck but all of em were sammy ROFL.

Just took a hint from all you lovely folks. I called to make myself an appointment with my local VZW store. Good thing I did! The salesman I talked to said that he would put aside MY phone and accessories that I wanted and have them for me first thing Thursday morning. I live in a pretty crowded area (it's a military town) and surprisingly, he said that they didn't get many phones in and he expects them to be gone in an hour. So, win for me!
Does anyone know if stores will be opening early on Thursday? I know they opened at 7a for the Storm launch.
Some opened early for the Droid X1 launch. I ordered mine online sometime after 12 am and got it that way. I think some even opened at midnight too.

actually it wasnt as straight forward as I was hoping. the lady kept saying they didnt know when they were getting shipment and that she would call me as soon as they did, and they would hold one for me.
however i remember when the BB Tour came out, employees were told not to hold any for anyone...so im kind of hesitant to believe there will be one sitting on the side with my name on it.

The Verizon by me opens at 8am. I called and asked if I could pre-order and said they don't take pre-orders but if I came at 8am, I was sure to get one.

Man, I have been waiting patiently for months for this phone to come out and had been dealing pretty well, I even decided I was going to wait until October to see what else comes out and compare and decide....then I started reading bworley50's thread and now I am counting down the minutes to get this! I've even planned out how and when I'm going to get this in 1 day 5 hours and so on. Hope my boss doesn't read this because part of my plan is to call in sick at work to get my hands on my new Bionic!
Don't get fired over a new phone lol. Ask for a day off that day, or just get all your work done early dude. Or take your lunch break early and drive down there and get the phone lol.
