Droid Bionic coming in September

Maybe i missed something, but your saying the only thing that changed this time around is they gave the cm team a gs2? That.alone is going to change the tides of the dev community? The cm team had a sgs1 too so Im not sure how that's much different. We can all make our predictions though, nobody really knows for sure. I did say that the bionic is more likely to fall behind, I just was saying it's not impossible fot it to be ahead like some are making it out to be.

The way I see it, it's just dejavu of when the DX was first released, we all knew it had a locked bootloader and were warned that it wouldn't be touched by the devs in protest. Alot of devs even sold their dx in outrage and bought fascinates. The dx ended up with miui omfgb cm7 while the fascinate is just getting cm7.

No I'm saying that things have changed a lot since last year and Samsung handing over a development device to CM was a smart move on their part. Certainly put them on the map. Was that the cause or simply because the GS2 is such a phenominal phone? I personally believe its a combo of both.

I just don't see the Bionic moving ahead as you suggest. Its a giant pain dealing with the limitations. Why waste time on a locked down device when their are other options available? The community is beginning to tire of it. At least the devs I speak to.

funny people still assume things. Until its officially released its pure speculation of the lock down for bionic. Oh no, are you speaking of the phone that can't be spoken about in the bionic forums CK LOLZ :p ?

I wouldn't say i'm new to Android. I was one of the first to buy the original Droid the first day it came out 2 years ago. I just don't understand why the iOS has limitations to multi-tasking. What is preventing Android phones from multi-tasking the way the iPhone does?
My Droid cannot surf the web while talking on the phone...:-[
On WiFi you can.

Well, MDB228 has spoken today: "Less than thirty days from now I will have taken over. All who stand in my way will be discarded. Don't fear me, embrace me. I am the future." If true we may have pre-order in August.

@DroidBionic had three tweets this morning:

"The Motorola Droid Bionic will be in your hands before you know it."

"FYI the @MDB228 Twitter account is NOT the real Droid Bionic page."

"Once the Motorola Droid Bionic is in your hands, you will then know that the wait was worth it."

You were right! @MDB288 just twittered: "I am the real deal, and I will be here soon. @DROIDBIONIC knows nothing of what he speaks."

Let the Twitter wars begin!

Basically its not iOS vs Android that allows talking and surfing, its the phone and network. For example, Verizon's iPhone does not allow you to surf and talk at the same time.
All android phones are capable of talking and surfing however because of their ability to multitask, but as mentioned earlier for almost every android phone it has to be either 4g or WiFi, and there are not many 4g phones. I also have an OG Droid and I can talk and surf, but only over WiFi
I don't want to get into the middle of your disagreement here, but I've been a Verizon customer for many years. I've had Palms and BB's. It wasn't until I got my original Droid that I couldn't surf and talk at the same time. I don't think it has anything to do with Verizon, 3G or 4G, CDMA, wifi or not. It's a Motorola issue. If I can do it on my Blackberry one day and not on my Droid the next ( and by the way my husband can still surf and talk on his blackberry and we're in the same household, same 3G spectrum) I'm convinced it's Moto.

It has nothing to do with Moto. HTC, Samsung, LG, Apple, etc... none of their smartphones (excluding the Thunderbolt) can. I've always heard it was a CDMA issue, but now it seems more hardware/software related.

It is hardware related with CDMA technology. The Thunderbolt actually has a chip that supports SVDO which allows simultaneous voice and data over CDMA. I have not heard of any other phones on Verizon that have this ability.

Cory The DroidBionic Twitter page is fake also. It is a fan page.. Just look at the past with Motorola releases they never had a Twitter page for a phone just Droid Landing only.

Thanks for the info, Preach...I just started using Twitter a couple months ago, so I have not really been on during a Moto launch. We have heard NOTHING from @DroidLanding yet...how soon before they announce anything?

Actually, they were correct. It is a limitation on the type of 3g network Verizon uses. CDMA in Verizons implementation can not support voice and data simultaneously. Verizon uses EV-DO Rev A for their data Decent condensed verision

Recently (2010) Verizon was rumored (rumored because I can't find an official statement right now) to be working on upgrading their network to EV-DO Rev B or SV-DO. This was, from what I've read, implemented first in the Thunderbolt.

In the past it was a week or two before the release...

Actually, that's just because you're magic.

For those of us mere mortals that have had to stay within the confines of the laws of physics, CDMA has not been able to so simultaneous voice and data- though with the SVDO revision, it is becoming possible.
