DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

We don't have any real info about the so called X phone. This is why I'm waiting for I/O. Hopefully Google lays out what the strategy is going forward. The current one sucks. "Here's new hardware. It'll run some OS. It'll sell on mobile carriers" is not going to cut it for me.

Are you looking for a more uniform system and less mfg variants? A better nexus type phone?

My question to everybody. Do you actually dislike the skins themselves or it only because their existence hinders updating?

Fortunately I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence.

I've never heard a great answer to this question. Most the time it seems just the easy response to say: "I hate Blur, TW, Sense." Personally I like skins because it gives each manufacturer their own identity within Android.

Yeah, sometimes its pretty comical the complaints. Anyway I think my first tablet will be the new nexus 7.

Oh I'm going unlockable with a large dev community. What it comes with I don't much care about. I typically choose to buy a phone on a major version release. So I'd like to wait for KLP. As long as I can unlock it and install custom roms, I'm good.

A little of both. They slow down the UI in a lot of cases. I use Nova anyway, so, it doesn't overly impact me. And Moto has done well limiting Blur lately. But it certainly does slow down updates.

What about people that don't want updates? My brother just texted me and said he doesn't like the update on his RAZR because things look different. I almost wish people could accept the update only if they want it. Kind of like moving from windows 7 to windows 8.

I don't have the bionic anymore, but when I did I had this problem. To fix it I went into Settings>Battery & Data Manager>Data delivery>Social Applications and then unchecked Sync over Wi-Fi only. Hope this helps.

This is EXACTLY what worked on my wives Bionic. The update notification popped up literally seconds after I unchecked that box and good thing the battery was all charged up, as it went from .897 (I think it was) to.902, then .905 one right after another, whew.

Sure hope this does it for you!

But isn't that part of what you want or look forward to with Android?

What I mean is some people don't want the cool new features, or at least would never know what they are missing out on. They just want consistency. I guess that's one good thing about skins, is the oems could skin the new versions to look and act similar to the old versions to keep confusion down.

for us yes. Some people don't care about the newest and greatest, they just want it to work, and be semi up to date. They don't want MS-Dos, but would be happy with Windows XP, and they don't need windows 8. what about the other millions of people just want a smart phone, but not an iphone?

I've been putting a lot of serious thought on getting off VZW. I've been looking at Sprint because they have a solid 4G network here (Wichita). What's this groups thoughts on Sprint network wise?
As a general rule, Sprint sucks (though it certainly depends on your location and how much you travel away from cities and major highways). There's a reason they offer more bang for your buck...same with T-Mobile. Each trails (significantly, IMO) behind the leader on their respective band (VZW on CDMA, AT&T on GSM).

That makes sense. My wife said approximately the same same thing when her Razr got the update. I tried explaining expanded notifications, Google Now, or Project Butter to her to let's say a marginal response. But let's say an app lags for a moment or two she hates the phone. Needless to say when she upgrades if chooses to get an iPhone I won't argue with her lol

Hey Sam,

Will there be any fxz for jb as I heard there is no back to ics?

Also 4.2.2 is more important so my question is they both will use the same kernal?

We are never getting 4.2.2 so I don't understand the question. As for FXZ, yes, we'll get one, but, if we don't have a working root exploit, that could be ugly. First time you use it, you'll lose root and without an exploit for JB, you can't get it back. So be cognizant of that.
