DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

Of course this happens the day after I finally root my Bionic! Oh well, I can't wait for JB on my Bionic whenever that may be

It does surprise me, as we assume Verizon hasn't had the build long. Maybe their just getting ready to pull the trigger when Verizon says go. That way there won't be any down time.

There's other possibilities, as well. Either way, looks like they've selected the build that's getting pushed. Given how well 23 tested, it doesn't surprise me.

I know it goes without saying but those of you who receive the soak, keep us informed.

Is the purpose of the soak test to test the software or the update process itself? Or both lol

Fortunately I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence.

Dan from Motorola Feedback Network will have your head for that. ;)

Am assuming there is no sarcasm when you say build 23 tested well?

No sarcasm. It went through testing quite easily. Should hopefully be a fairly stable build. However, given how "well" the RAZR HD, RAZR, and D4 JB builds are working, caution might be appropriate. LOTS of complaints. And with no way of going back to ICS should you wish to, I personally ain't rushing to put this on my phone. Then again, it might give me more incentive to buy a new one if I do. LMAO.

In theory both. In reality, not a damn thing. :)

It is quite different than any other Android OEM. My guess is they try to get more eyes on it to see if we can break something. If we don't break something in a week with several of us trying, then it is a good enough build. Now, something catastrophic probably has to happen for them to not push the build that they're testing. I've had little problems before during a soak, but everything still was pushed.

I really don't frequent those other forums at all. What kind of complaints are they having? That way I can test them out when/if I get the soak.

The truth is the soak test is complete nonsense. They've already tested it. If you find something catastrophic, you can report it, but, the likelihood is it's still going out the door anyway. But damn does it sure make people FEEL special when they get that email. ;) (I'm in! They REALLY like me!) LMAO

Radio stuff. Stability problems. Widgets not refreshing or showing at all. I don't know the full list. Haven't really bothered keeping up. But, suffice it to say it's not gone awesome so far for Moto and JB.

At this point I think Samuri is right the train is coming down the tracks, the approval of the soak group is not necessary.:D

Well cheers to that. I guess after this the developers at moto will start on 4.2*s for the various phones.

Start on? Oh **** no. They've been working on 4.2.x upgrades for over a month or so at this point. I know this isn't what people want to hear, myself most definitely included, but, to me not much has changed with Moto as far as updates go. They really aren't good at it. I mean, just really BAD at doing updates. That's not to say it's 100% their fault, but, I figured with Google at the helm some stuff would change. Not so much. JB played out exactly as the ICS fiasco did. 4.2.x isn't looking all that great so far. The RAZR HD, RAZR, and D4 4.1 builds aren't awesome. We're hoping ours is, but, no guarantees. I want Moto to change and succeed. So far, I'm seeing it get neglected from the mothership. And that doesn't impress me one bit. It's certainly not motivating me into wanting to buy another phone from them...

I'm just glad that it looks like we'll (almost certainly) have JB on our phones, when it comes time for considering its replacement next month. Of course, sometimes that pesky "Murphy" poses an obstacle with these things...

I'm telling ya....Murphy ain't got nothing on a sharp katana blade. :D

But, I am special... at least that's what my mother always told me...
