DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

Were we able to get any clarification on the small file size and possibly incorrect build number?

Fortunately I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence.

DL mis-reported the size. It's 337 megs. And it's confirmed that this is build 22. Which is the build that Moto screwed up internally so I don't know what's going on. I don't plan on taking it any time soon.

Maybe it is VZW's parting shot at their beloved Bionic!

Zach, you should take the update and report back to us how it is! And if it's sucky...well...ROMs are where it's at :p

I'm just going to take it. What's the worst that could happen. I can get a new phone next month, and I'm good at complaining enough that Verizon will give me a new one if it breaks.

I've seen nothing to suggest that the soak has started. Good times. But yea, remember what PHASED upgrade means, guys and gals. It doesn't mean you wake up Monday morning, press the check for update button, and OMGZ PONIES! It means it'll be a phased rollout based on your MEID over the course of several days.

Ah, helps if i read the main page. I secretly was hoping Motorola had a launch party I didn't know about...

With the Bionic's history, if Moto were having a launch party, the product wouldn't come out for 6 more months and it would end up being Cupcake w/ Sprinkles (Android v1.55)

There can't be that many people who still are active on the bionic. I'm not disagreeing with you at all, but I can't fathom the need to phase it.

Considering if you bought the phone on launch day you're not eligible for an upgrade until May 8, how many people do you think "jumped ship"? The phases are 1000 or so per shot. You don't think there's more than a thousand users still using it?

There's some ignorance to specifics attached to my opinions, which I acknowledge (I didn't know about the numbers per batch). I was thinking that this was was only the flagship phone for about a month before the RAZR came out. Its not an iPhone only techies purchased this on day 1. I grant you that most people, myself included, cannot afford to purchase a new phone prior to a discount becoming availible.

I stand by my point though, on VZW There can't be THAT many bionics active on the network not to make it available for anyone who wants to pull it right away.

More than the D4. A LOT of people chose the Bionic over the RAZR for one simple reason...removable battery. You may choose to believe it's not a popular phone but you'd not be correct. It's one of the things VZW hates about it...it took sales away from their precious RAZR.

I'll take the update when it rolls out to my headset if you guys want to wait a few days. I run stock everything and don't tinker too much so i'm not sure if it will help any of you more tech savy peeps who rooted or are running custom roms.

If the update makes it unbearable I'll let you guys know then complain with Verizon that their update broke my phone and they need to fix it :)

This was the last straw for me with Verizon anyways:
Verizon moves to longer and stricter upgrade times | Android Central

I'm near Chicago so T-Mo has pretty decent coverage looks like they are getting a new customer in the near future.

I would also argue that for every 1 person who would pick a phone because it has a replaceable battery, there are 5 that don't care and 10 that don't know what that means. ;)

Along that point, I don't think there's too many people who know what jelly bean is and that we don't have it, yet.
