Droid Bionic price page up

If you can prove that it is fake, please do... the Android Community and Droid Life posts were mostly crap.

Anymore it is getting worse than the iphone fanboys. People jumping on eachother's backs and everyone on droid-life is following kellex like the iphone fanboys do to steve jobs going by what he says and not actually going out and testing it for themselves.

Problem with all those benchmarks though is that the SGS2 which uses the Exynos processor has a lower resolution and is clocked slightly higher at 1.2ghz vs. 1 ghz of the OMAP4. This is going to cause scores of anything with a qHD screen to be slightly lower.

Agreed.

Sure I can give you some...

Your main complaints are:
  1. Motobur
  2. Pentile
  3. Battery Life
  4. Price

#1 and #2 are exactly the same on the D3. So basically, your big issue is that Battery Life and Price. It's $100 more for a Bionic. Yes, it's more, but remember you're likely to be using this phone for 2 years, so if 1.5 years from now having LTE is a big deal to you then why not spend the extra $100? To some it might be a big difference, but it's $100 over two years, pay for the phone that has a longer longevity.

Hope this helps or that you're happy with whatever phone you choose! :)

Pentile is not the same on the D3 and the Bionic. A 4.3" pentile display is noticeably worse than a 4" display, though not as bad as the originally rumored 4.5" pentile.

Also, recent rumors point to the Bionic as having 1Gb of RAM. This would be much better than the D3's 512Mb.

Waaaa it's $299 :'( ... waaa It's a fake web page :'( ... most people on here are going to get it when it releases in a couple weeks and add the fee to your bill and have a bad a$$ phone...i've been waiting like everyone else for this phone to come out and i knew it was going to be a beast of a phone since CES..."our tipster says is an early version of the Droid Does page for the Motorola Bionic." it's an early version doesn't mean that it just posted today

Went into a VZW store last night to let my wife look at phones (she wound up with an iP****.. =( ) and played with the Droid3. I have to be honest the display looked pretty darn sweet to me. I don't know what all these finicky types are seeing, but I surfed the web, took pictures, messed with apps and I couldn't see any pixelization even with holding it up to my face... Oh and by the by, they were doing the whole we have to sell our D2G's out before selling the D3's.

And the new home alternative (formally known as blur) is actually pretty sweet. Took me a bit to get used to it, but the movement and widgets were all wicked smooth and nicely done. I've never played with the older versions of blur but coming from ADW with custom theme/icons I didn't mind the new blur. Now granted maybe after a few days of constant use I might change my mind... But it was nice and sparkly new in the store though! ;)

Yea the D3 is pretty sweet.. I have the D2G right now, and the new Moto UI on the D3 is actually pretty nice compared to mine, If the Bionic wasnt so close, I probably would of got the D3

Fine, look at the X2 on the screen. I personally don't think its noticeably worse, but the pentile thing has never bothered me at all. If his complaint is pentile in general (as opposed to pentile being noticeably worse than on a 4.3" than a 4") than getting a D3 doesn't really solve the issue.

And yes, quite aware on the RAM front. Don't know why this was even brought up.

I own the DX2, a DX and DI2. From a normal viewing distance the pentile screen is very pixelated and diagonals are jagged. In comparison to the other phones the difference is obvious. Its also terrible when trying to display solid red or green - it can't. This is based on my daily usage of a pentile screen - its the worst screen I have used since the BB Curve.

Again, the pentile screen is a thing of preference. Some people have issues with it, others don't. I don't own a phone with pentile, but have used a lot of them in trying to determine what phone I was going to get. It just doesn't bother me. Maybe I have super eyes, maybe you have crappy eyes. I don't know. It's really personal preference. If pentile bothers you, don't get the Bionic (or a D3 or a DX2), it's that simple. This drum has been beaten a trillion times.

Starting to really wonder if I want to wait for this phone anymore.. $300 (well like $270 with my upgrade, big deal =\ ) is a lot for a phone that has so much going against it from the get-go.. the moto-blur stuff that everyone complains about (I'm coming from blackberry so bear with me), the pentile screen that isn't up to par with the competition, the battery life which, lets face it, is not going to be very good with 4g.. Plus I feel like I'll be able to use wifi so much that I wonder if I really will need the 4g so bad, at least with this generation of phones.

So I'm wondering if I should just grab the droid3 and be happy with it, I know its going to have a lot of the negatives I mentioned above but its half the price (maybe even free...my buddy just got one before they put up the BOGO deal so he might be able to go back and get another...)..

Can someone give me some encouragement to hold out and drop the cash for bionic or does my thinking seem rational enough? If I do wait for bionic I'm going to be giving it some CLOSE scrutiny especially battery life in the first 2 weeks and if it ain't worth the price I'm sure I'll end up returning it and getting the d3 anyway...
I used BBs for about a year so I feel your pain.

First of all, if you have a choice of carriers, Verizon is the most expensive and has a below average selection of Android phones. I have 5 phones on a VZW family plan and intend to switch to Sprint ASAP.

However, if you are committed to Verizon and switching from a BB, anything will be a breath of fresh air.
I have DX2, Incredible 2 and Incredible right now. The DX2 was not my choice (warranty replacement), but I find the pentile screen to be very poor quality. I have an upgrade available, but will not waste it on the Bionic if it has the same poor screen. I could not live with it for 2 years. If you can wait another month, the Samsung Galaxy 2 should come out and be a much better phone than the Bionic - better screen, lighter, thinner, no motoblur, etc.

Have patience.

No 4G LTE......Just saying if that is a factor for some people.

Yeah, you could get a samsung instead......you do know that youre in the Bionic forum right? Go drool over your GSII somewhere else.

Samsungs have the poorest reception of all android phones I've used. The fascinate on my plan is horrible. It barely picks up 3g and I'm in a 4G town. Plus no notification lights, and probably no LTE. Sounds like a winner to me!
