Bottom line......I'm no tech guru. Will Verizon be releasing a new software upgrade for the Charge? Is there a planned date?

Gingerbread... yes they are investing a lot of resources into it (as witnessed by the number of leaked builds) and it will almost certainly be released at some point

ICS ... highly doubtful.

My buddy is the manger at a Verizon Store in NC and he told me it was pulled due to all the issues and complaints.

In defence of the droid charge i must say after owning a fascinate for 6 months anything would be a light at the end of the tunnel... i must say the charge is the better of the 2 and i can not understand why everyone complains about the Charge.. it takes calls, recieves calls, DL's fast from market, runs everything from the sun to the rivers and i have not had not 1 incident caused by the charge to interfer with my usage.. as far as i am concerned i wouldnt give up my charge for the Nexus especially after reading the spec sheet of the Nexus.

camera works fine ,,but i cant see any reason for a camera more than 5 mp as in the fascinate.
i have bricked my charge, threatened to break it and stood with my feet poised to stomp my charge but all was due to my ignorance of not following directions when changing ROM's etc. Once i followed proper directions ev thing worked just fine

so all in all i believe most who run for the Nexus will soon gripe more than they do now with their charge.. just my thought..

I agree. I think a lot of the people that gripe about the Charge are also complaining that the Galaxy Nexus isn't good enough to be a Nexus phone. Then they will get the phone and complain that it still isn't good enough. They will love ICS and they will love CM9, or what ever ROM they decide to run, but they will lament the phone. "It could/should have been this/that."

I really like my Charge and genuinely have no problems with it. Would I like the Galaxy Nexus? You bet I would! I've only had my Charge since September but I am still glad I got it instead of waiting for the Nexus. There is always something better on the horizon. After this will come other, arguably better, phones that will also be able to run CM9 or even just AOSP ICS. There is ALWAYS going to be something better. Also, the grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side of the fence....ALWAYS!
