hello Android Central. As a new convert from BlackBerry to Android (Droid Pro) I have one basic question. On my BB Storm2 I was always installing hybrid OS files. It made the phone sooo much better.

So here is my question, should I root my Droid Pro? I guess really, that the only way to get rid of Vzw's bloat-ware is to root, right? Can some one verify that rationalization for me? LOL!

Thanks so much!

Hello dlhstick..
Welcome to Android Central.

Rooting is an individual preference. For me I don't see the need, therefore I don't.
Tap on the posted link below - it might give you some insight on rooting.

Rooting voids your warranty.

Welcome to AC! Like rush said, you have to decide for yourself the reason you want to root. It is the only way to get rid of the bloatware. Like you, I was always trying new ways to get my BB running like it should. Just be sure you research what you are doing before you start.

I would suggest learning the insides and out of your phone first. Then you will know if rooting is for you. Personally I chose to root with the help of everyone here on the forums and its been clear sailing for me. And I almost forgot, Welcome to the Forums

Personal choice on rooting, there are benefits and well IMO not too many downsides because you can unroot the phone anytime.

Thanks for the info and warm welcomes. I appreciate everyone's input and now it's off to read about rooting. When I did my first BB hybrid install, they had a great step-by-step guide on how to do it. Does that exist for the Droid Pro anywhere?

Thanks again!

rooting is a personal preference as it there is a big rist involved with breaking the warranty and the possibilty of bricking your phone if you delete the wrong file I would suggust first learning possibilties on your phone before doing any rooting and if you do root, I would suggest using a freezer instead of actually deleting that way you can still get updates and update back to factory if you need to go back and use the warranty.
