Droid Custom Boot Screen

Yeah I put the Nexus "X" animation in for mine, soooooo much cooler looking than the Verizon logo.

I saw that someone had asked for the android_audio.mp3 file in a lower volume version. It was driving me nuts too, so I just played with it and figured it out. I have attached it to this post as a zipped file. Unzip it to get to the android_audio.mp3 file. :)

Instructions for switching over to this new file if you desire to:

1. Connect your Incredible to your PC
2. Mount it as a hard drive in debugging mode
3. Unzip the file attached to this post
4. Go to wherever you saved your android_audio.mp3 original file on your computer and delete it. Put the new file in its place.
5. Open cmd prompt in windows
6. Do the cd command and set it to wherever you put the android_audio.mp3 file
7. Type:

adb shell rm -r /data/local/android_audio.mp3 (enter) <---- you may or may not see anything after you do this, but it worked. If you want to be sure reboot the device at this point and check. You should have no audio with your boot screen. Once it is back on remount it as a hard drive (it should still be in debugging mode). Continue onto step 8.

8. Type:

adb push android_audio.mp3 /data/local (enter)

9. Reboot the device and the audio playback with the boot screen should be lower.

Finally, finally! Got the screen boot changed. Very cool. Now just have to figure out sound and off we go. Thanks for all the posts, had to take bits and pieces to get. But the process is actually easy. Thanks again.

Thanks!

What are you stuck at? If you are using Windows 7 there are some files you have to edit before it will even work.

Any one know how to go back to the Verizon boot screen?

You should be able to do it like this:

1. Hook the phone up to the computer and mount it as a disk drive in debugging mode
2. Open CMD prompt on your PC
3. Do the cd command like you did the first time to get the custom boot screen on the phone
4. Type

adb shell rm -r /data/local/bootanimation.zip (enter)

5. Reboot the device and the custom boot screen should be gone. You should have the factory boot screen back.

You're typing it wrong. Do it like this:

C:\Users\Chris> cd c:\androidsdk\tools (enter)

Leave the spaces in or else it won't work.

Once you get there, make sure your bootanimation.zip file is in the tools folder then type:

adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local (enter)

Again, make sure you leave the spaces in, and all should be well. You will know that it worked because it will say it moved x amount of data in x amount of time. Reboot your phone and you should have the custom animation.

Anyone thought of the Droid does globe from the commercials? Spinning globe, with apps popping and out. With the robot hands grabbing and clicking. Would make a cool bootanimation.

Sounds cool to me. Now, someone just needs to make it. I don't have enough patience for that. :D

just pushed the android incredible eye bootscreen and the (lower) audio. Thanks, guys! easy install. Looks great.

Thanks worked great.

I tried to do this again after loading froyo and rerooting and after pushing through it shows the bytes in x amount of seconds however after rebooting my device no custom boot animation.

Thoughts?
