DROID DNA 2.xx Moonshine s-off / RevOne S-off RELEASED

I'm okay with Linux, just wondering what happens. So I run the moonshine, and that unlocks the phone, do I then need to load a stock Android from somewhere? And if so where do I get that from. Xda-developers? Somewhere else? Thanks.

I haven't read the directions but if you're running it as a live user you will have the lowest level of permissions. Just chmod 777 And call it a day.

Err. I just followed what jerry told me to do Lolol. But looking at the directions, it calls for 755...

Most of the ROMs out now over on XDA are sense 5 based, but in a nutshell, it is as simple as you thought. Just make sure to install a good recovery like TWRP (my favorite) or CWM and wipe your ROM via that recovery before flashing a new one. Also, don't forget to do a nandroid backup! Hopefully AOSP will happen soon and our stock dreams will come true. BTW I gave Tranquil a shot and had some performance issues, but it may have been a bad installation. Also, the blue was a bit overbearing for me, personally.

Anyone who managed to do this correctly, this is the problem I am running into. After the root command, it says gaining root access, and my phone reboots. Per the instructions, I wait two minutes and start back at adb shell. But after the reboot, it says device not found when I try to open an adb shell. Any advice?

Chmod just changes the permissions each item has for each user. 777 grants all permissions to all users, so it's just making sure you have read write and execute powers no matter what user you are.

So, for those that have successfully used Moonshine to S-Off, does this process wipe the phone (i.e. music, pictures, downloaded apps)? Just wondering what I need to save before I begin.

Finally got it to work. After about 24 hours of trying. Lol.

I have a couple questions for someone who can answer them...I downloaded ubuntu and running it from a barn disc...I then downloaded moonshine while in ubuntu...not sure if this should be on my device or desktop...then after that I'm lost...it says to download the archive "tar -zxf"...where do I find this?....if anyone could help with the steps I would appreciate it

So, just so I am clear on this; the DNA on the latest update has no way to unlock the bootloader without going s-off? I'd rather stay S-On and keep the extra brick protection. ADB pushing kernels etc. isn't much of a hassle.

Well to answer my own question, using the Moonshine S-Off does NOT erase any information on the phone. I used a LiveCD version of 32bit Ubuntu 13 and once I figured out how to get the terminal box to open and navigated to the download folder it was very simple. These guys are GOOD!

After s-OFF and unlock via revone, I have found that I am not rooted. I don't know where to go from here...

I can't make a recovery without being rooted, though. My bootloader says I am s-OFF and unlocked...
But root checker says I am unrooted, and I'm unable to use Rom manager or superuser because both say I am not rooted...

Once you've downloaded and extracted (right click extract here kind of deal like windows) you'll want to change the directory that you're currently in to where moonshine is (think of it like a file explorer that can do pretty much anything without a fancy UI) and run it from there. The easiest way to do this would be to navigate to the extracted moonshine folder with the file explorer->right click on one of the contents of the folder->properties and copy the file path that it gives. Open the terminal and type the following line followed by pressing enter and the second line:

cd "paste the copied path here without quotes"

sudo ./distiller

The first line uses the 'cd' command (i.e. change directory) to points to where moonshine is hanging out and the second with super user permissions runs the distiller application (it will prompt you for your password). Beyond that, you just to kick up your feet, grab a cold one, and let it do all the work for s-off unlocking and rooting.

I would definitely like to kick back and have a cold couple but have work haha....when I get home all report if it works or not...I think the trouble in having is the change of directory because when I go to put cd/home/downloads it says no such file or directory
