Droid DNA: What will it take for you to upgrade?

My dna is starting to show it's age. My usb port is loose, my usb cover fell off ages ago and my friends all have newer phones like nexus5 moto x and sgs4's and notes. I can't wait till vzw gets the new one or a Sony comes to big red.

Its maybe showing its age, but it still performs just as well really. Its no slouch. Ive messed with all of the phones you listed and I didnt think once that I wish I had those phones over mine. Only a HTC will likely make me want a new phone. Sony is the only other one that looks half interesting. Never been a huge Nexus 4 or 5 fan only cause I already have a nexus 7. Dont need another vanilla android device.

Probably only the new HTC m8, love my DNA and all my previous HTC smartphones.

I have the dna and its unreal but when it comes time to upgrade to my next phone I'm not sure if I should get an iPhone. I love android, got an nexus 7 too. But it seems that most teenagers my age these days have I phones. Not sure what I'm gonna do, any suggestions?

Yea here's a suggestion. Most people my age have a ________ is in my opinion not the way to decide what phone to get. Get what you like and what works the best for you. Android, IPhone whichever you go with get it because YOU like it.

I don't care what kind of phone you have, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence.

I know how you feel all my friends have an iPhone but I love that I am the only one who doesn't. I use mainly a Moto X now but occasionly go back to my DNA. I love the fact that most people don't realize what kind of phone I have, and then they see the things I can do with it then get completely jealous. I have converted many people to Android phones. Stick with what you like. I personally love the selection Android offers.

Also i think the only reason I'm jealous about the iphone is the I message. All my friends have group messages and they say i can't be in them Cuz I don't have an iphone. Other than that my DNA kicks iphones ***.

The new One has me interested, but I am finding I can't justify it. I may keep trying tho. My DNA had started acting up recently...calls would drop (without the little beep that told you that), and I would lose signal. Not often, but a couple of times a week. I play Pandora all day at work, and that would also pause and not restart (yet it looked like I still had a signal). Like everyone else I had apps that I had deleted over time, and I think there was just lots of "junk", so I did a factory reset.

The phone is running great now, so I'll see how it continues. If it continues to act up, I may look at the One.

In turn, they could all install something simple like hangouts and everyone can chat there. Thats what my friends and I use, works great for everyone regardless of their tablet or phone preference.

Well after finding out that the the all new One has the same old 4 ultra pixel camera looks like my DNA will be around for awhile longer.

I will likely end up with a new One. Im waiting for an upgrade and also a different color hopefully. Id like a black one if possible. So Im waiting for now.

My wife got the new m8, it's really nice. I wish it had a better camera though.

I used to be that guy... Upgrade to the newest phone in your brand just to have the latest device even though some of its specs where less then my previous... I wont be getting the new One... ill be sticking with my DNA until something better hops, skips or jumps my way :D

The S5 isn't going to get me to give up my DNA either. Next up the G3. Will it have what it takes ?

Spent half an hour at the Verizon store this weekend comparing my DNA to the M8 and S5 and I have to say that neither is all that compelling. I think it's less a knock on them but a testament on how good the DNA still is -even after 18 months. I know processors are faster but the Samsung - at least on display seemed to have more lag than how I have my phone setup with Nova. The M8 has spectacular build quality but it's big, a little heavy and despite the size gives up screen space for the home/menu buttons. The S5 is more of the same. Light, cartoon looking screen in stock form and while the back is a big improvement, it doesn't feel special at all. If HTC would have kept the size down a bit and just went out and bought a standard 12 or 16m camera module from someone and called it a day they would have produced a near perfect phone. I'll probably sit on the sidelines for know even though I'm itching for something new.

Have owned this phone for over a year now, picked it up in Jan 2013.

Truly spectacular phone. Love everything about it, especially the screen both the size and quality if the display.

The weakest points of this phone are the limited storage with no SD card expansion, the no SIM card error, and the very very very bad battery life.

16GB is nothing you can't take advantage of movies or too much media in this phone.

The battery is atrocious. 2020 is very small, I can't last a day on this phone with mild usage. I usually drop down to 20% area after 4-7 hours depending on the day. Also the charging time is incredibly slow. Over 2 hours to refill back up.

Honestly see no reason to upgrade as this phone is already incredibly fast and beautiful.

The option of the added SD card with the M8 is cool but the battery still blows. I would like to see something in the range of 3400+ to really be enticed. The tech is already there to put these batteries in the phone, companies are just holding back. I will consider buying a 2015 or 2016 phone once the hardware is truly greater and not just slightly better.

The battery is debatable pending the user, I get roughly 2 days with a charge so I couldnt be happier. I had a extended battery on my old Rezound, which was quite a bit bigger than this battery and I was lucky to make it a day with that thing. For what it is, this phone gets great battery life. Id of course like a 2800 or so battery, but only if it doesnt affect the size of the phone. I dont want a brick just to have few hours of extra life.

My phone charges like any other phone, I also use wireless charging on mine.

Storage is like battery, depends on user to be sufficient or not. I personally put random music on mine that I dont listen to honestly, just to fill some space since I had like 9 gig doing nothing.

Every Day... I walk out of the house at 5:35... 100% Battery! That leaves me 15 Minutes to drive, and 10 Minutes to check my notifications and FB before i start work and i usually start work at 90%... uh WHAT?n ! I work a 9 Hour Shift, With a Break From 8-815, Lunch 10-11 and break 1-115... When i am not on a break or lunch, my phone is in Airplane mode and does not get used due to low signal in building.... I use my phone pretty normally when on breaks, just checking facebook, instagram, emails and texts... On my lunch i do all of that plus stream Spotify...By time 3oclock hits... I am down to 30% if i am lucky... I used to be able to go an ENTIRE DAY OFF in roughly the same amount of time but with consistant heavy usage and only drop to mabybe 65%....

Unfortunately... I have already decided to finally use my Upgrade next friday, around the time the Supposed "Pushed Back" Update is suppose to finally push out... <_<

I took mine off the charger about 5 hours ago now. Been messing with hangouts and facebook ever 10-20 mins and Im still at 92%.
