Security Flaw Makes It Easy To Bypass Verizon Droid Screen Lock

Read an article today that the Droid lockscreen can be pretty easily bypassed. While it does bother me a little bit, I would assume this will be fixed by the time we get the 2.1 update. Can anyone with the 2.1 leak install or any N1 users verify this?

While I'm on the subject of security, does anyone have any recommendations on apps to get. I.E., how to track a stolen phone, make sure sensitive data is safe, etc. I've read up a little bit on it on the boards, but was hoping for a fresh points of view.

Thanks.

/Sorry to post 2 questions back to back, but I've just now grown the cajoles to get more involved in the forums.

For a security app I use wavesecure. According to the devs, if you download the app before Jan 31 (because it's in Beta right now) you get a free lifetime subscription. I haven't had to use it in an emergency (such as losing my phone) but I did play around with it and was able to both track and lock my phone remotely. It also has an option to remotely wipe your phone, but I didn't try that - for obvious reasons LOL. You might check it out and see if it does what you want. It seems to be good for what I want.

FWIW I tried WaveSecure as well. But I was never able to register/login to the website. I kept getting an error that my PIN was wrong but the PIN does work on the phone. Several emails to their support went unanswered. I finally uninstalled it. I'm still trying to decide between Lookout and Mobile Defense.

Just curious... I had to put in +1 in front of my number to login... I then got an email with a link and had to enter in my PIN number... stupid me kept entering my mobile id number... DUH!. Not that you are doing the same, but the login id does need +1 in front.

Also, the time is like 13 hours fast on the WS site.

Probably because the company is in Singapore. I downloaded it and was able to get into the website with no problem. Been playing around with it and the alarm feature is great. lol
