Droid MAXX: Account action Required popping up after 4.4 update

After trying the factory reset -- worked temporarily -- the dreaded message "could not sign in" returned. Searched forums and tried just about everything but this is what worked:

settings->security & screen lock->Device administrators and turned off "Motorola Device Policy". Next, settings->Motorola Device ID, tap the three dot menu control on the top right, and choose "unlink account".

You know, I wonder if this is what I did (I know I unlinked the account in Motorola device id), because it never came back for me after it happened that one time.

No matter - a far easier way to fix this is to take the update to 4.4.4, which fixed this bug.

I have a Motto X and I am having the same frustrating issue with the google alert account action required. I have reset my password and I still keep getting the alert. Annoying?

OK, i think I have found out a way to fix this problem. I only did it today and I don't know if it will work for you I just know it worked for me. If you are trying to fix it on you phone you have to get another browser like firefox or something not connected to you email. You then use that to go onto whatever your original email is on, click forgot password then enter your email and rest your password like that. I know it works for gmail. Go try it yourself.

I think this problem has to do with hacking that happened to google a while ago
