Droid Maxx still a good phone?

I have not meet anyone who doesn't think the Maxx was one of the best phones they ever owned. And that is straight out of the box with no mods. I like most of the readers in these forums have had many phones from many manufacturers. Motorola Maxx is still one of the best phones on the market.

Exactly. Try running it debloated with greenify and unbounce. You'll consistently have over a gig of ram free and get awesome-er battery life.

At the risk of getting of topic just a bit, I'll address some stuff from a few posts above.

You can get active notification-like behavior on any phone with the app called AC Display. I use it on all my non-Maxx phones.

The G3 doesn't need rocking it to wake the display, you just double tap the screen and the phone wakes up. I find this more useful and wish the Maxx had that feature.

Long pressing the G3 volume down button wakes the phone and opens the camera pretty fast. Not much different than shake to wake the camera on the Maxx.

Maxx is still my primary phone, but for someone who doesn't have one yet, to buy one now you're getting hardware that is at least 18 months old., that is going to lock you out of some features. Real world example already for me. I bought the Moto Hint only to find that not all the features are available on the 2013 X or Droid lines.

The same would go for the G3, wouldn't it? It sounds like most or all of those features are expected to come in updates to the 2013 Motorola lineup. Not sure I'd ever expect them all to come to a non-Moto for the Hint.

No battery hit that I've noticed. It doesn’t breathe on and off like the Maxx, but it's configurable for when you want it to display and how long.

The Moto Hint s just a personal recent example. Yes, the Hint does not have full function on the G3, but that wasn't my point.

The G3 is a fairly new flagship phone with current top of the line hardware. The Maxx was considered by many to be middle of the line hardware when it came out, over a year ago. For the kind of people who read these sites, who knows what limitations that may cause six months or more from now. Just something a buyer might want to consider.
