DROID RAZR HD Receiving New Update to Build 9.16.6

Has anyone been able to see whether the Carbon backup app works after the update, or is this Moto phone still defective when it comes to restore and backup?

Has anyone else noticed how much lower the battery life is now since this update? I used to be able to go a whole day and finish up w/battery life around 75%. Now, I go a whole day and I'm near 60%. It's awful! And yesterday, I had this mysterious symbol pop up on my screen where the 4G signal bar would be. It was a red triangle with a white cross. Anyone have any clue as to what the heck that was??

A couple things: I just got my Razr Maxx HD last Thursday and the day after, my update notices started coming in for the 9.16.6 US and I have declined them all from experience with the T-Bolt. T-bolt worked fine for me in stock condition for 6 months and then I did the update for it and it never worked as well as before, even after rooting it and trying several combinations of OS/Radios. So I am leery of all updates from Verizon now :( Question one: if I update to 9.16.6 can I ever go back? Two: Can the 9.16.6 be rooted? Three: Will Foxfi Pro tethering still work after 9.16.6. I ask because I paid full price for the phone to keep the unlimited data and if FoxFi will not work after, and it cannot be rooted, then I am staying where I am and punching the ignore button every 12 hours :(

I don't know if you can go back, but I doubt it would be easy.

I believe the new version can now be rooted, but I haven't tried it.

I am using FoxFi tethering after the update and know of at least one other person doing so. You'll need the latest version of the app to do it.

I spent a week or two avoiding the update before I got tired of punching the ignore button every twelve hours. It pisses me off that there's no way to silence the upgrade nag notices. There are a few things which aren't working quite as well as they were before: battery life seems slightly worse, it seems to use more RAM now, and it seems to drop 3G and LTE connections more frequently than before. I had jellybean 4.1.1 before and was perfectly happy with it. Nothing fatal, but it's still disappointing.
