DROID RAZR HD Receiving New Update to Build 9.16.6

Found something good from this build. Previously when using PowerAmp and playing through Bluetooth in my Ford Explorer the song / track information wouldn't display, GoogleMusic would. Now the metadata is being displayed with PowerAmp as well.

Has anyone had any issues with the Email app? Ever since the 9.16.6 update, my RAZR MAXX HD is having issues with Corporate email and Bluetooth. Specifically, the Email app gives me a pop up that say that my security settings need to be updated with only the options to tap "OK" or "Cancel." When I tap "OK" nothing happens. Although, Bluetooth is completely disabled, as is "Internet Sharing" (which I assume to mean Mobile Hotspot), and I continue to get the "security settings need to be updated" popup periodically.

To make matters even more fun, I have Gmail loaded through the Email app (rather than the Gmail app because I really don't like the Gmail app) and it will only connect to the Gmail server when I am not connected to WiFi.

I've been doing a lot of internet research and have tried all the usual things (removing and readding the accounts, deactivating and reactivating device administrators, etc.), but nothing seems to be working. There seems to be a lot of smart people on these forums and so I am really hoping someone will come up with something brilliant. :-)

I should also mention that my IT people at work are also working on the security policies on their end, but so far, even they are stumped.

While I did not see this security message, a co-worker of mine saw that message on her Razr XT-912 with their 4.1.2 upgrade. She brought it to me not knowing what to do. I clicked OK to allow the security settings to update, and it appeared as though nothing happened. When I went to the account settings and changed the polling frequency to push, all of the emails began streaming in again.

Before the update i was losing 4g service. I would have to toggle airplane mode to get it back. Been pretty steady now.

I'm noticing that although swiping over to the Moto quick settings screen is still laggy, the phone as a whole seems snappier on 4.1.2, including Google Now. I'd probably notice some lag if I used it side by side with a Nexus 4, but using it in a vacuum it doesn't feel laggy.

I just got the OTA this morning and installed now. Now my battery is draining almost 4x faster than it did before the OTA. Anyone have ideas on why? Should I try a factory reset?

Go into recovery and clear the cache first.

Recovery/Clear cache partition: I can get to the Recovery screen, but after that I get the red triangle on the triage screen, and then the phone just reboots. The instructions in post #107 do not work for me. I know that it is tricky getting past Recovery to the next menu. Maybe someone has a trick that works for them?

I think it's just hard to press volume up and volume down at exactly the same time to get past the red triangle screen. Just keep trying and it should work.

At the red triangle, press down volume up and down buttons. After about 8 seconds, release the volume up while keeping the down pressed. It should bring you to recovery. If not, release the volume down and it should.

I cleared the cache but it took about 2 day for my phone to go back to better than before update use. It drained very quickly for 2 days. Now it's much better.

This works. I knew that there was a bit more to the process. Thank you t0ked!

There really isn't any more to the process than simultaneously pressing volume up and volume down and then releasing them. It's just hard to get the phone to recognize it sometimes.

No problem. It's convoluted, but people don't do the release of the up button first, then the down.

You don't actually have to do that, or hold them down for 8 seconds. You just press the both together and release them. Seems to take a few tries usually though.

I saw this elsewhere so I cant' take credit if it works but when you get to the red triangle screen Hold the down button and then just press and release the up button for a second (while still holding down).. Works every time for me.

I found a solution for the SMS delivery reports.

Okay so with the most recent update Verizon made the switch from sending text messages over their 1x network and moved them to their LTE (and possibly 3g) network, hence the reason they are sending so much faster. Today I was in a classroom that is underground and has terrible reception and noticed that I was getting delivery reports again but that my texts were sending slower, like they used to. I dug around in the phones programing menu and found a new option call "MO SMS over IMS" and it was enabled. Disabling it switches your texts back onto the old 1x network. So if you choose to make the switch, your delivery reports will come back but sending will go back to being a little slower. To get to this menu open up your dialer and type in ##7764726. Next hit send and when prompted with a password type in 000000 and hit verify. Scroll down to SMS/MMS settings and select it. Next scroll to the bottom, select "MO SMS over IMS", and disable it. Now your good delivery reports back!

It did work for me too!
