DROID RAZR M: 4.4.2 KitKat Update

I updated my Motorola Droid HD to 4.2.2 (Verizon update 182.46.10) and I LOATHE it! My phone dies way faster (barely making one long day w marginal use vs 2 full days w solid use), the texting keyboard has fewer touch/hold options and somehow my fingers are less accurate even tho they haven't changed! I hate it! Is there a way to go back to the old version? WiFi connectivity is better as are the emoticons , but not worth the battery drain! Any suggestions?

Learn to like it if you're not unlocked as there is no downgrading.

You are stuck. No going back now. I would advise a factory reset.

what will a factory reset do I upgraded my droid M to KitKat and it will not work with my new Fios WIFI called Motorola who could care less about my problem and Verizon Staff tried to help but had not idea what to do to correct the problem

Re: RAZR M: KitKat Update

I really don't know how to say this any other way... The 4.4.2 KitKat update ruined my phone!

Since updating to Android 4.4.2 this phone has become virtually useless. Here is a list of problems:
-extremely short battery life. Phone discharges in under 12 hours with light use.
-the phone gets dangerously hot. I cannot hold it next to my ear after about five minutes.
-maximum call volume drops for no reason and can only be reset by powering the phone off and restarting.
-the reception is noticeably weaker in my home.
-text messages take a longer time to go through, sometimes several hours.
-many apps take an exceptionally long time to launch.

I have done a factory reset twice and it made no difference. This is, without question, the absolute worst software update I have ever experienced on any product. At this point, my phone has become virtually useless.

Does anyone test this stuff before it's made available to the public? I don't know if this is Google's fault or Motorola, however I blame Motorola for allowing such a horrible update to be forced upon it's customers (i.e. the endless update reminders). I will NEVER BUY ANYTHING BY MOTOROLA AGAIN!

So unlock it, downgrade back to 4.1.2, freeze the updater, and be happy?

So you have an experience with one update by one manufacturer and now blame that manufacturer for everything and anything? Be reasonable, there are people who had the update and did just fine, like me. I have had 0 problems with KitKat.

Re: RAZR M: KitKat Update

I have had a problem with my RAZR M ever since the 4.4.2 update -- the clock was not staying in sync with reality. I have an NTP app that I use to confirm exact time (ClockSync), and it tells me how far out of sync the device is from the actual global (NTP) time. Usually it's a second or two, but since the 4.4.2 update a few months ago it was a minute or more, and drifting further out.

I did a device reboot but that didn't fix it.

I searched the forums here for solutions and found nobody else complainign baout this problem. There were peopel complaining about the clock on the lock screen not updating, but my problem was that the OS clock itself was drifting.

I was going to take it into a Verizon store tomorrow, but dreading that process, I tried one more time to search here. One of the threads talked abotu going into the date/time settings so I wandered in there to look around. AUTOMATIC TIME SYNC WAS TURNED OFF. Well, duh, yes, that would do it :)

Turned it on and BOOM clock is synced again.

I guess the KitKat update somehow turned that off. I sure as heck didn't!

So, I'm making this entry here so that the next guy gets a search hit ...

100% agree. Although I have a Droid RAZR Maxx HD, I had similar problems - mainly with battery drain, freezes and random reboots caused by Fast Dormancy on a GSM network. I also saw some problems with Kernel as it drained most power after freezing FD (+/- 40% of power consumption acc. to GSam) - unfortunately, GSam doesn't provide all monitoring options on KitKat.
I downgraded my phone back to 4.1.2, overwrote the unlocking message with Moto logo and froze the updater.
Currently testing idle time, it's already 34h (with 3g data on), and the phone still has 87% of power remaining.

Use Samuri's methods from his forums to downgrade but be careful and read everything 10 times before proceeding :)
Thanks to that, I went through the process without any problems.

If you're not unlocked you're not downgrading.
