DROID RAZR M: 4.4.2 KitKat Update

Re: RAZR M: KitKat Update

Ok stupid question. How do I change the texting screen to anything other than all white? So ridiculous. Did they release a manual or someway to learn about the new system? Seems like they dump it on your phone and walk away, any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

You can download another messaging app, that is the stick messaging app and it can't be altered in appearance.

I couldn't find a way to make it more visually appealing.
I downloaded Handcent, from the play store. There are many SKINS to download. I chose the Galaxy S3 skin.

Re: RAZR M: KitKat Update

I have a Moto Razr M that was just updated yesterday with KK and I do not like the way it changed my txt msging!! I can no longer use swype, can't resend a msg if a recipient doesn't receive it, and I just don't like it!! Does anyone know how I can reset it back to the original way I had been using the txting before the updates?

Use another messaging app (GoSMS Pro or Handcent) to replace the current one and download the Google Keyboard to get swype-like texting back.

I've been using Hangouts so I didnt even know the message app changed

I have solved the missing lock screen shortcuts with Galaxy Locker, from the play store.
It works OK, but is a little laggy.
Still test driving...

Re: RAZR M: KitKat Update

Don't know if Verizon and/or Google scan this site but just in case:

Google is turning into just anther version of Apple and it sucks. This latest update sucks and reduces capability overall. I hope someone comes along soon and kicks both your butts with better software and UI. I refuse to upgrade my phone to this mess.

As a side note, went to replace the wife's iPhone yesterday with a Moto X, or so I thought. Google in it's infinite wisdom is removing the ability to use an SD card from it's phones. Not only do we use the memory and are not interested in paying for cloud storage (which won't work for what I do anyway), it's again locking us in a user cage the way Google wants things done...just like Apple. I like music and use lossless compression for music files because MP3s, Pandora and all those similar have terrible sound quality...plus I want to listen to what I want to listen to when I want to listen to it. For those who've never heard anything else try listening to a CD or Vinyl through a good system or lossless files on your phone with good headphones and you'll instantly hear the difference. It's like removing cotton balls from your ears.

They didn't remove the ability to use SD cards. It changed the way apps write to the SD card though. The update is good in my eyes. But hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Re: RAZR M: KitKat Update

Actually they did remove ability to use the cards because there is no slot to insert one. I'm not going to attach a card via dongle and USB port for Pete's sake.

No they did not. Depends on what phone you get. As it has been for a while.

This is the worst upgrade ever! My text message box has been shrunk to the bottom of the screen and scrolls off as I type. I have to carefully scroll with my finger tip to review before I send. My ring tones were all reset. I use to have an alphabet letter on the right hand side of my contact list to quickly go to a name. Photos are not being saved to my SD card and the list goes on. I wish I never upgraded. This is horrible Google. Just horrilble!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Another issue I can't find a fix for is the dialer, when in car dock and showing in landscape, is crunched up. The numbers are on top of each other, making it very difficult to dial a number.
The red hang-up button is huge, as well as the name box, at the top. These crowd the numbers. JellyBean didn't act like that. I use my dialer while in car dock often.

Try another dialer then. I am using KitKat Dialer.

Re: RAZR M: KitKat Update

Does anyone know the alternative to the "silence" button on the lock screen? It's gone since the KitKat update!

On the lock screen hold power button down and then you can switch volume profiles.
