DROID RAZR MAXX HD: 4.4.2 KitKat Update

Not noticing any battery improvement. I am noticing it is much more responsive. I was having all kinds of issues w/ the keyboard lagging and screens not responding very quickly.
New notifications, and texting are taking a little time to get used to.

Logged in to see if anyone was experiencing excessive battery drain the past week and was delighted to see this thread. Checked for the update yesterday and am doing a full reset this morning.
Hoping for the best.

Excessive battery drain!!!! YES, as of a couple days ago my HD MAXX suddenly wouldn't make it through the day before running out of charge (I used to have 25% charge at the end of a day). I thought it was just my phone or some bad app or something!!! Interesting that someone else has seen this same issue!

I was surprised to get the KitKatt upgrade too. I thought our phones were orphaned by now, great to see the update. My update went on without issue. I wasn't expecting the update so I just clicked OK on it last night. This morning I saw the request to reboot. Told it OK before getting in the shower and it was running by the time I got out of the shower.

Anyone else having battery drain issues all of the sudden in the past couple days? I hope this issue goes away with the new OS!

So far I love the new OS but still can't figure out how to set the apps on the unlock page. Tried swiping down then over. I don't get a page with a big plus on it to add the unlock apps.

Is anyone else having trouble with the camera, gallery and SD card? Photos I took before updating to KitKat won't show up in the gallery, I can't record video because the camera app (original one that came with the phone) says it can't record to the SD card, and when I try to take a screenshot, I get an error saying it can't save it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Okay, weird. My battery life went to **** all of the sudden this week too. What's going on?

Not sure how to do the instruction you stated above, I swipe down and try to go right but it doesn't do anything but unlock the phone.

I made a quick and dirty video with my Transformer Prime to show you what I mean.

Do you have the lock screen widgets activated?

Oh, that's cool! I never knew you could change that. What I would like to know is how to restore the lockscreen application launchers... I used to be able to slide to a particular icon and launch an app right from the lock screen... just slide the lock left to unlock and launch camera, up to get gmail, etc... That's gone now.

Thank you for the video!

I too would like to know how to know how to setup the lock screen application launchers. I.e. move the lock to the right and automatically launch the SMS app?

Anyone else getting stuck on the download notification? I got advertised the 4.4.2 update this morning, told it to download now. It didn't appear to do anything, but a couple hours later the notification appeared with download progress. It's been stuck at 56% for a couple hours now...

I have no idea how to see if the lock screen widgets are active or not. I have searched my phone but do not find it. I also activated everything that I had previously disabled and still nothing. Any ideas?

I went ahead and did the factory reset after the kit kat update. Took the phone off the charger yesterday morning at 6:00 AM-ish.... haven't had it on the charger yet and I'm at 56%. Can't say whether it was the update or the wipe, but my MAXX battery life is back! Another poster mentioned his Calendar app causing issues.... I had Calengoo installed but haven't bothered to reinstall it. Perhaps it's related, can't say.

I keep getting a "Check for update is not available at this time. Try again later." error. Anyone else getting this?

My phone keeps trying to update, but I am rooted, running stock ROM. Should I let it update? Or do I need to do something about my root first? I don't want to lose root, and I certainly don't want to brick my phone. I have searched all over the forums, but can't find anything that explains what to do about the update when running rooted stock ROM.

I defrosted and unrooted, but after the KK install it said it failed...anyone have any idea what may have caused this? Stock, locked and now unrooted razr maxx hd 9.18.94xt926

You need to upgrade your android to Blur_Version.9.30.1.XT926.Verizon.en.US from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=5 using RSD Lite. After that you can upgrade to 4.4.2 version.
