DROID SPEAKS

Have you powered phone down with power button to see if it resets anything ? Have you had your phone long? or ever got it to work before ? I am not sure what I would do if everything else seemed to work I might just wait for the update and see if that fixed it .But thats your call on that.;)

I had my phone since launch day and did the first update. I coulndt tell you if it worked before I never tried it till I heard my brother in laws phone do it. well today I did a reboot by basically leaving phone on and pulling battery out for about a minute then put back in and turned on, And guess what it worked. my stock alarm clock doesnt have sound when it goes off does your sound work on your stock alarm. everything else works fine on the phone. All other sounds are great. so it has to be a software issue with the stock alarm clock. But I noticed that from after a week I had the phone, I took it into verizon store they tested the droid x's on display and the alarm didnt work right either can barely hear it,. I just download another alarm clock app and that works fine, so im hoping the update will correct this problem

well so much for that. it workrd on the first two calls then stopped. just does the ringtone . so now that tells me its either an app on my phone interfering or its the phone. if it the phone do I wait to see what happens when the update comes out or should I just call verizon and have them send me a new one..

I can barely hear my stock alarm it would never wake me up , lol, first time I tried it was just then (rooster crow).Previewing the sounds it was kinda loud but not when actual alarm went off

I still have the voice saying my name before I get phone ringing tho.
I fiqure vzw will have you do a factory reset as a first step if you called them .

I think I would wait for the update since its so close and appears only thing you have issue with .I know they are going to make the speaker louder read that in another thread that had a link from motorola .

yes thats kinda what I was thinking, just a few minor issues, I would rather wait to see if this new update takes care of the problem rather than try to to go do a factory reset and add everything all over again.. Then if problem still exsist or other issues pop up after the update then I will have them send me a new phone.
Thats funny you said about the rooster sound, thats what I have it set for cause I though it was the most annoying one that will wake me up. Testin it sounds loud, but when alarm went off could barley hear it. Oh well stay tuned to after the update I hope thats soon. Im ready

Another thing you could try (eventhough it looks like you shouldn't need to) is download an app called "SayMyName Dessert". I've been using that just because I didn't see the setting to have it read the callers name in settings. It has a few more options for you to set like changing what it says before the name and you can set it to do SMS and E-mail too. I had problems with the E-mail one though because I was composing an e-mail on my computer on gmail and every few minutes when it would save a draft the phone would say that I have mail from my self. Otherwise the program works fine.

As for the Alarm clock, I use that every morning to wake up. I could see if you are a Heavy sleeper then it might not wake you. Do you have the "Volume" option turned on under the alarm settings? That option tells the alarm to start out at a very low volume and gradually increase, and I mean very low. I normally wake up from the rumbling of my phone on the night stand but if I don't it keeps increasing until I do wake up. If you tried it out with this setting on then the Alarm would be very quiet unless you waited for it to increase. I'm kind of torn over using this feature because somethings that are gradually introduced sometimes become part of my dreams (kind of like inception).

Yeah I had missed the setting that says "increases volume" , once I unticked that box it sounded just like it did on the preview loudness ,thanks .Could be louder but its much better now . :)

Wheres that setting at maybe im missing it to???

after you open up the alarm clock app ,touch on the time that you want to set its on the bottom(of that window that pops open) on that screen right where it shows "Volume" underneath it it says "use increasing volume" I unticked that box its ticked by default ;)

I love my alarm clock have it set to play a video. That is so freaking cool.

I didnt know you can do that How?? See theres still so mcuh with this phone that I dont know about. The good thing about this forum you learn from other people, Cause heaven forbid verizon or motorola include a manual that shows everything about the phone and HOW TO??. Motorola sent me the free user guide manual, but it just shows the basic stuff. doesnt go into details about the programs on the phone or the ability the phone has. We spent enough money on these phones You think they would want people to use them properly. Well sorry I was venting I get on a role.

Thank you but the phone already had that checked off., Now my alarm clock is working after the reboot but I still cant get the caller ID to read out Strange Huh!! Its like I trade one for the other. Its not a big deal, It would be nice to hear whos calling before I start scrambling through my purse for the phone then I can hear if its worth the scramble LOL.. I might try that saymyname app. But I guess I feel like we paid money for these devices everything on the phone should work, Right!

In the stock alarm click sounds then scroll to videos.I don't think any one posted this before

everyone here has been helpful to my question and I want to thank you all. I started another thread titled multi-tasking on the X hope some here can see it and help me with that. thank you again

as far as the caller ID reading out the names, I found the problem, went to motorola forum and discovered all the little quirks happening was due to my advanced task manager that the verizon guy put on my phone. they recommended I uninstall it which i did and now it works and so does my alarm clock again, Strange.. so it will call out the full name of person then go to ringtone or if the number is not in my contacts it will read the number first

Yep task killers can be a pia with our hardware we don't need atk

not knowing anything about task killers and new to a smart phone I kinda felt I haad to trust the verizon people that they should know right LOL.... Boy was I wrong

those guys at vzw work on commission dont know much but what is told to them by management.
