hi,
Im new to the droid platform..
I picked up the droid x on relese day.

It seems to be dialing numbers on its own and randomly opening apps..
why does it dial numbers on its own?
I called best buy (I bought it there) and they told me that sporatic actions like that are normally caused by apps and or games that the droid doesnt like..
I have like a handful of apps loaded on this phone..

fifa soccer..
mini basketball
skys of glory
yelp
backbreaker football and anytime pool..
in addition to documents to go..

thats all the apps/gams I have loaded on here..
the reviews on these said they work well.

what the heck?

any ideas?
Im well within my 30 days of exchange..but my friends droid eris does the same thing..
randomly opens apps.dials people on its own..its frustrating..

I know each and every device anymore have their own issues...seems to be software problem..

I LOVE the phone..the nicest one ive owned..but this issue is annoying..

I would start deleting apps one by one until you find which one is causing the problem, or hard restarting the phone might help as well.

thanks for the feedback.. how sensetive are these darn apps and or games? seriously.. its like you dl something and it screws up your device..

was the best buy guy right its normally caused by apps and or games android doesnt like?

Apps sometimes do that, there are certain apps that aren't configured right and they get in the way and screw up other apps, messaging and phone for example.

makes sense..but how do you avoid them or cant you?Ive ben trying to go by reviews..if previous users tried and it screwed them up I wont download it..
the ones I do have got good reviews and noone mentiond issues...

I just hope it isnt the phone..seems like a sw compatibiliy issue..

When is it dialing numbers? When you lay it on a table, put it in your pocket, put it on the charger, etc. The key to determining what the cause of a problem is is to determine when it happens.
If you put it in your pocket before it locks the screen it tends to dial or open widgets.

it seems to dial numbers when its in my pocket I guess..

what i do is, and this may not be right ot do, just slip it in my pouch or pocket before it locks itself..
im guessing if its locked it wouldnt be dialing numbers?

is this still a problem with 3rd party software I have loaded?

how do I tell which software is ok to dl though?

Hahaha -

This to me sounds like a case of "bull****-itis" on the retailers part. After working in the retail business for many years, If theres a new product that I dont know much about, Ill bull**** my way out of a situation with a customer(unfortunately but I have to in order to get a sale possibly until I learn more about the product).

Ive dealt with many Verizon reps and "most" of them seem to be clueless about these products. Now, I may be wrong but being a bull****er myself, I can tell when someone doesnt know much about a product and most of the ppl I come across in these retailers have absolutely no idea. Even these so-called "Specialized Reps" in the verizon stores.

Unfortunately, this is what we have to deal with nowadays. In regards to your issue. I'd either take the device back and try a new one or like some ppl have said in this thread, try deleting some apps if you have any. Sorry to hear your having issues. I for one am taking mine back today before its too late and then going to purchase one at Verizon so I have 30 more days to try the phone. I just hope I dont run into an issue returning mine at the Walmart I got it at because I called into the store a few days after I got my device and the guy there said they werent allowed to sell them now without a contract but, I got mine for full retail. Not only that, the guy was extremely rude and hung up on me when I was trying to ask a question about it but he kept cutting me off.
