Droid X Shipping on August 23!

If any one cares, the VZW site shows the X shipping on 9/6 now. I am trying to decide if I want one, but my local store only has a display, and it has a leash stuck to the back if it, so I can't really tell how it feels to hold. Maybe they will get one before Christmas.:confused:

Really? The salesman at my local VZW store had me check out his personal Droid X and told me his reasons for preferring it to the Incredible (those reasons included battery life and Swype). Then I went over and messed with the leashed display model. I had even told him I wasn't buying that day, too.

Come on tomorrow!
 
Look I am not going to state who deserves an item over another. But you don't know anything about how they are handling this. All I know is your talking about taking a very bad emotional level over an electronic device that is coming well before the estimated ship date.

Its childish. Like I said you could have gone into a store, BB, Walmart, Costco and so on and gotten a new Droid X weeks ago if time was an issue. Instead you signed up for a delivery date that Verizon met. You should be happy.

I'm not physically angry. I am quite disappointed since I can't find anyone on any Android board who has waited as long. There are people on here that ordered a WEEK after me and have their phones. That's a problem. I didn't care what they said the day I ordered because a week seemed to be the max anyone was waiting. If they were doing things the right way, they would have a few folks monitoring order fulfillment and re-route orders that have waited a longer-than-average amount of time to an available phone. I happen to have some knowledge in the area...

How do you know the stock of my local stores? I tried to go through walmart and they didn't show me as being eligible for an upgrade even though I was. So I had to order it through the Verizon site. So you have no idea what you're talking about.

That being said I'll get pissed about whatever I want to get pissed about. You have no say over my emotions. So get over yourself and get off of your high horse.
 
Ordered mine on 8/8 at a Verizon store. Never sent me an e-mail. Called CS this afternoon, got a tracking #. Should arrive by 3pm tommorrow.
 
i asked verizon if the change in delivery date on the website meant mine would be delayed. my original ship by date was 8/31. they said no. i hope they meant it!

$200 on a device to replace a device your currently using, a device that looks to ship by the agreed drop dead ship date you agreed on while ordering online. I am not the one on the high horse, I am not the one that is talking about "getting very pissed" and "highly disapointed in the way Verizon/Motorola handled this roll-out" based solely on a couple dozen entries in forum that somewhat imply that maybe someone who may have ordered the phone at possibly a earlier date, may actually receive the phone a few days before you. All without knowing any other information besides "Me Mr. Smith. Me order first. Me should get first".

People brought up single warehouse shipments for FiFo but that would probably overload whatever warehouse that may not even be set up for single location shipping and would probably increase the receiving date of everyone's device including yours. Maybe I am being a bit sensitive about this. But I have worked in retail before and am a bit bothered when I see people get worked up over something small in their life, while not taking the time to think rationally about it. You have the right to get pissed about anything you want, I also have the right to tell you its not healthy to get pissed about something as small as a couple day delay on $200 cell phone.
 
Just called to check on mine. They are saying it will ship by the 25th. I ordered on the 8th. Man, I wish this thing would hurry and get here. I hate AT&T and my iPhone.
 
Chad, apparently Alabama is way down the list on getting phones. I ordered on the 6th with ship date of 24th and I haven't heard anything either. Doubt mine will just show up either since it hasn't hit my card yet. They did say mine would be shipped "overnight" so one way or another I should have it by next Wednesday.

I am fortunate in that I don't have any problems with my Storm (2). On the other hand, my office mate got his in 5 days or so and is constantly showing me what it can do. Torture I tell ya! :)
 
I'd be ticked off if I hadn't had it go through on my card yet. I refuse to use companies that don't pull my funds immediately upon purchase. Consequently that is the reason I will not use debit at McDonald's. There's no excuse for sitting on my $3 payment for a week. It really screws you up later when you forget about it.

Luckily VWZ took my payment instantly so this isn't an issue, but just tossing it out there that you might want to call them and ask why you weren't charged and if they're even processing your order. I got a confirmation number and everything, just not a shipping/tracking number.

I'm getting impatient, even if it is before the estimated ship date. But I suppose that has more to do with my Pearl's trackball being 110%. (I tried to clean it and broke it's housing.) I can only check / send texts and answer / dial calls. And even that requires a few acrobatics.

Chad that's crazy man. I live in Philly and just ordered last night. They told me today that it is in transit. I just checked and it's at a sort facillity 45 minutes away, but Fed Ex said it's not open to the public, so I have to wait for it to get delivered on Tuesday.

I made three posts total, and I might have made the same points in two of those three. At most really I am more at fault for making my posts a little long. But there is a little bit of a difference between someone being an annoyed, or impatient customer, and one talking about getting very pissed. I have always noticed that the ones getting pissed most of the time are not being reasonable. I am not telling anyone that they have to change. I was just trying to make a point that maybe someone might have their priorities wrong if they are actually getting angry about the delivery of a $200 product that they will likely get before the promised ship date based solely on where they sit in an imaginary line in their head.

Consider me the guy behind just about everyone else. Also waiting in for the Same product, just wanting to tell people to calm down, we will all get on in the end. No reason getting over worked about a process that none of us really know the full background on. I have as much right in this thread as anyone else.
 
I just got a box from Verizon at my home. Unfortunatly I am stuck at work for another 6 hours. But I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy.

So everyone knows and we can continue to find no logic in the distribution; Ordered on August 9th at 11:30 am and I live in south FL.
 
All I know is that I ordered mine on the 16th and they told me it won't ship out until the 30th. I am hoping my Storm will hold out that long. I have to reboot it at least 2 times a day and the battery sucks on it.
