DROID X Users: What's Going to be Your Next Phone?

Once the Incredible HD is available (my area is getting LTE first) I will sell the X and get the DiHD!

First poster here! To be frank I haven't owned a cellphone in 2 years and I decided to go big or go home so I got a Droid x, let's just say I'm on the long term plan. I couldn'T ask for more from this phone.

my next phone is probably something that hasn't been announced yet. i figure itll be at least another 6-12 months before i am ready to move on. really enjoy my x

I'm just hoping we get Gingerbread soon. That'll tide me over for a bit :) Also, I am hoping to win a Galaxy Tab, so that will be nice, too!

Gingerbread soon would be nice. First, I would REALLY like an update to Froyo that FIXES the BUGS it CREATED. Then Gingerbread followed by a fix for the bugs in that OS version.

I will be keeping my DX until I can upgrade in 20 months. At that time I hope there is a DX-like model with the screen size of the DX, a faster processor, more memory, better battery life and most of all an OS that is stable and has little to no glaring, obvious issues or promises at rollout. Should be interesting to see if such hardware will be created and by what hardware maker.

One thing is for sure. The fixes for Froyo then Gingerbread and it's fixes and how Motorola handles them all will go a LONG, LONG WAY in determining IF I EVER buy a Motorola product again. Time will tell.

Lte for sure, but will it be android? or iphone 5 lte? must admit I'm looking for to se what gingerbread brings to the table.

Of the phones mentioned so far Htc HD might be the one I give up the dx for, but ned to know more about it first ;)

This thread reminds me of the old CrackBerry days when everyone was so dissatisfied with there device, they were always asking..."what's next?" I can't speak for everyone, but my guess is that most people are very satisfied with their X.

Been there too, greydarrah! And I couldn't agree more! I found too much limitation in the BB world. I am completely satisfied and sticking w/ my X for now (my Droid X that is, not my "ex"... I couldn't care less what he does.. hehee!) ;)

A phone that doesn't have a locked bootloader.

Why would you trade in for a phone that does less and has less features and capabilities?

I just want a phone that makes great calls, good battery life, works flawlessly with bluetooth and fully supports EAS.

For those requirements the iPhone is better (once it comes to verizon).

Lol, the iPhone didn't make great calls, that was one of its problems.

Maybe the VZW version (if ever) will make that a reality

And what magical things would happen if you could get to the bootloader? You can already overclock it, under volt it, get rid of some or all the blur. I might be interested if it would turn it into a jet pack.

I will be buying the lates Verizon Blackberry. I came to the Dx because the BB was just too 'suit and tie' and not enough fun, but Android is more worse at 'suit and tie' stuff than BB is lacking in fun. I found out I miss all the syncing and automation that the BB apps have with each other more than I love Angry Birds and Homerun 3-d.

What exactly does the BB do better than the X at "suit and tie" stuff? My X works flawlessly with Exchange server for mail, calendar, contacts and tasks.

Some people never warm up to the differences of the android os. Because RIM doesn't really offer any app options for things like the calendar/phone/email, the users get too set on how they work and can never get used to it working differently on a droid. That's why the world produces many types of phones...options. It would be no fun if we all liked the same thing anyway.

I think it is the fact the BB isnt so open source in the Calendar/Email/Phone. Its not bad, just isnt working for me. Its a very minor hassle. I grew up on Treo, moved to BB and then Dx just because I wanted to get more 'fun'. Droid is more fun, but I just like how streamlined BB is. Very minor Calendar miscues, Facebook Calendar doesnt sync, the multiple phonebooks, Blur, like I said they are all minor complaints but they are all wearing on me. Android just isnt quite there yet for me. I will probably be back in 2 years or so, but right now BB is just a polished product that I miss - even if I do have to pull the battery once a day. :p

I do love the Android community though and will be buying a Tablet so I can still have my Angry Birds/ Homerun 3-d and the best yahoo Fantasy football platform of all.
