Droid x users

I'm upgrading from a DX to the SIII, actually DX2, which was a warranty replacement for my X after the screen died. I feel the same way about the S3 as I did about the DX. I held off on getting a smart phone for a while, and when I saw the DX I knew it was "the one". I haven't felt that way until the S3 (tho the Nexus was close, but too many problems reported). I can't wait!

I'm a little concerned about what problems this phone might have, but don't they all have something?

I had a DX2 a couple phones ago, and now the Maxx. Question to the X owners upgrading to the SG III: do you have concerns going from Moto to Samsung? And why not upgrade to the Maxx or Maxx HD?

Just curious, nothing else....
I can't connect to my corporate exchange server with my X (needed to download a 3rd party app). When I tested on my wife's Razr it couldn't connect either. My Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 connects without a problem. So...I'm hoping that the Galaxy 3 connects without a problem as well. Also, I really dislike Moto software although I love their hardware.

I must defend the fascinate here. The fascinate is a great phone with the best single core proccesor even today. You just need to know how to take advantage of it. The camera and screen is also very good and the phone is practically unbreakable. I will admit the phone in its stock form does suck though.

I'm upgrading from a DX and this is the first phone that caught my attention. I tested the maxx but wasn't impressed

I think maybe if I knew a little more about the razr hd or when it was coming out, I may have waited. But there is hardly any concrete information out on it.

I'm moving from the X/X2 (Replaced with the 2) and I WILL NOT miss this phone one bit!

Sure it'd handled a hefty workload, but it feels so darn dated now. Even with ROMs like Eclipse and CM7 and mods like Speedy and v6 this phone has never really felt snappy to me (It takes it at least 5 seconds to kick into the camera).

I welcome the GSIII with arms wide open! ;)

5 seconds? Congrats, that's a good time for me! Yea, I do love the X and have put it through the ringer, rooted unrooted, Roms, etc. and it's definitely showing it's age. However, I am very concerned about moving away from Moto.

All I've ever owned is motorola since cell phones were introduced (500mc, startac, MQ9, DX). I have never had a hardware issue with any of their phones and would stay in their family if they had an equivalent to the G3S.

All that said, I am not like the typical Iphone user and can and will wait on this release to see what people are saying about the battery, radio and build quality. I laugh at the idiots that are glorified beta testers (Iphone 4 anyone?) and run out as soon as it hits the shelves.

According to winmo7 we are all just beta testers.

I am upgrading from the DX as well. I'm surely going to miss it. It has been as reliable as an old Nokia for me. I have really roughed it up over the years. I have had the same phone since release day.

My girlfriend has the Fascinate so I'm well aware of the typical Samsung issues, just hope this phone doesn't have any.

Droid x user here. Camera and screen starting to mess up. Ready for an major upgrade!

I've had the DX for about 22 months now (bought it after a four month fling with the Palm Pre) and, as much as I love this phone and as well as it has served me, I am more than ready to upgrade.
(I preordered the S3 yesterday.)
I heavily considered the RAZR MAXX a few months ago, but decided to hold off until the summer for something to launch with ICS, a removable battery (I hate sealed-in batteries), and, ideally, one that I could buy closer to launch, since I put off the MAXX long enough that it didn't seem prudent to buy it anymore (especially since it didn't launch with ICS).

I don't really know how I feel about moving to Samsung yet - as someone who's only Android device has been from Motorola, and who had considered almost exclusively Motorola devices over the past two years, it was kinda surprising, but I think I'll be happy with the move. As much as I love Moto overall, I feel fairly confident in Samsung's recent devices and the S3 just really struck me as kinda perfect.

It'll be nice to the have the best phone possible for a change, instead of DX, which feels laggy and old at this point, even if it'll only last for a short time.

Edit:
Also, I'll be pleased to get away from Moto's somewhat hostile attitude towards messing with the OS.

Still using my OG Droid X that I pre-ordered back in the day. It's been a great phone. I ran over it with trailer carrying two PWC's and it still works perfect (no broken screen either). I've yet to see or use a phone that has the build quality of the DX and I will miss that. I would of gone with another Motorola but they really dropped the ball with the screen quality of the RAZR and taking so long to release a phone with ICS.

Both my husband and I are upgrading our Droid Xs to the SIII. They've been good phones; mine in particular has survived some hard drops with minimal damage, but it's definitely time for an upgrade. The last 6 months at least it has seemed very laggy no matter what tweaks and launchers I've tried. The camera especially has become temperamental.

I'm glad we're on the same upgrade schedule, because I'm a pretty heavy data user (no wifi at work, and only expensive wifi on the ferry commute) and the new plans will be a lot more expensive for us. I'm thinking it will probably be off contract phones after this, depending on how things shake out. A lot can change in the phone world in a couple years.

My DX is my 3rd Android phone. I had the Droid Eris then gave it to my wife, then had the OG Droid and finally my DX. I think it's a great phone and it still works really well. I've rooted and ROM'd it and I will say that it has held up well.

I was also gonna wait for the RAZR HD but for some reason there hasn't been anything concrete released regarding the phone. Then the SGSIII launched in London and it caught my attention. I've been clamoring to use my upgrade and the SGSIII went on presale so I jumped on it.

I'm looking forward to it, especially having a good camera. The camera on my DX takes forever to start up...

Got my DX (first smartphone) in August 2010, and it's been good to me. I haven't rooted it or done any major mods (boring I know) but it has served me well. Part of me wanted to keep going with it to see how long it held up, I wasn't actively looking for a new phone. But once I realized I was eligible to upgrade and then with today's announcement of the shared plans, I knew I needed to pull the trigger since this is my last chance to upgrade for awhile. Plus I wanted to go to 4G. I might give my DX to my sister so she can add a data plan without signing a contract, to try her first smartphone. Or she might just go with a 2-year contract on USCellular, in which case I'll probably just keep the DX as a glorified mp3 player/movie player.

I got my Droid X right when they came out, whenever that was. Had to ditch it in Feb. after so many issues with it, my brother gave me his Thunderbolt when he got a Nexus. So now I am going with the SIII.

I can't wait to ditch my DX for the GS3. I don't plan on buying a Moto phone ever again, I've had nothing but problems with this phone.

So I was just curious. How many people are upgrading from a droid x? Reading the threads it seems like there are a lot. Are you going to miss your droid x? I know I am...its been a workhorse for me.

I am happy to say GOODBYE to my droid x.. it was great the first 8 months then slowly started having issues.. then upgrades came then more trouble came.. of course after the 1 year warranty was up my phone kept rebooting, freezing. I am constantly having to do battery pulls. even takes 10 seconds when making a call before it will actually startdialing. thats not good in the event of an emergency. I wiped my phone clean of all third party apps.. still lags and all same problem.. I cant wait to get my samsung galaxay SIII.. im done with motorola phones, I know several people with motorola phones of different kids. all have similar issues. my brother inlaw owns the droid razor maxx. only thing good on it is the battery.. has some other nice eatures but has already expierence rebooting.. got to love motorola

Upgrading my DD's Droid X to the S3. I passed the phone down to her in the Fall when I got my GNex. That Droid X just does NOT want to die. No screen protector yet abused by me and then my 12 year old DD and here it is, perfect still. But the charger plug is starting to act up and it's time to lay it to rest.

I will keep it as a back up phone though as I learned the hard way that you really should keep a phone around in case something happens to yours. I bet that phone will still be running come my younger DD entering middle school in 5 years! LOL.

Gotta love well made phones!
