First off, hey all.. new to the hacking section of this forum because i just rooted my droid. Very easy process and an exciting one i might add.... just a few questions

1) In my gallery i have all of my regular pictures but their are also a ton of pictures in folders labeled drawable, no clue what this is or if i should get rid of them.

2) Are their ways to apply different themes to droidmod 1.0 and if so where is the best place to look for them?

forgive me if these are newbie questions but i have been searching for a couple hours on everything about rooting a phone so i wouldnt have to ask any questions on how to do it... now i just kinda want the answers to the rest of my questions!

thanks forumers

The folder for "drawable" was probably associated with some app you had where you drew with your finger on the screen.

Some apps make picture folders. For example, I used an app called camera magic for a little while and it put all of the picutures taken in a seperate folder. My screen capture app creates a seperate folder and I had some downloaded wallapers in their own folder.

It's no big deal, just plug into your PC and do some housecleaning and organizing.

Regarding your theme question: Yes, themes are possible with droidmod. Go to market and download "metamorph", that's a tool to help you apply themes. Then download a theme onto your sd card and use metamorph to apply it. The process is kinda' a pain in the neck and not the easiest thing. But, it is possible. There's a thread in here somewhere on the subject. search around a bit - use the search phrase "smoked glass" -- that was a popular theme from an older droidmod rom. or the phrase metamorph.

Best place to look for themes? Try a forum called alldroid (google it)

yes, it will work.. here is a discussion of the smoked glass theme by the developer, he mentions that it works with sholesmod -(which is droidmod)

AllDroid - View topic - [Theme] Smoked Glass *Updated 02/08*

PS: if you know how to actually get this working, tell me. I downloaded what I thought was the theme on my pC, transferred it to my Droid, and used metamorph, but I'm getting an error message that the file is "not found". I think it's a zip file -- but for the life of me, I can't get it to "unzip" or find just the .thm extension portion...

if you are talking about the link i provided than i can even get it download, when i click on the link it says no history can be found so it has been lost or something

i downloaded the smokeglass theme but to install it do i add it to the nandroid folder restart the phone while holding the x button and select the smokedglass theme through restore like i normally would? Or will this mess up the DroidMod?

maybe that's the trick-- you need to add thru the recovery menu.

Hey, does anyone out there know if themes are installed thru sprecovery mode and will this jack up droidmod 1.0 running?

it doesnt work. I tried it and it came up with an error that said nandroid exited with status 25

DroidMod + Smoked Glass issues

If anyone has been using DroidMod 1.0, you've noticed that they removed the option to install Smoked Glass on the rom during setup, there is a way to get it on there using Metamorph, but the big issue now is that the status bar clock is by default black, and I need it either white or gone for this theme.

So, the million dollar question is does anyone know of a simple way to either make it white, or just get it off the bar that doesn't require 20 steps and me having the SDK installed and such?

Thanks in advance.

(For the record, I'm of the opinion that the DroidMod people should put it - and possibly others back on there, but I'm not holding my breath)

im trying to install the smoked glass theme on droidmod right now and i can not figure out how to do it. It will not work through metamorph nor will it work through a nandroid restore. Im stuck

It took me a little while to figure this out as well. Here's what you want to do. Download the SmokedGlassV2 zip file and put it in the AndroidTheme folder on your phone, open MetaMorph and select the theme from that folder, the rest should walk you through it easily enough. Let me know if you still have any questions.

Forgive me if you read this exact response in another thread.

Sholes 2.0.6 and droidmod

I just rooted my phone recently and I checked out dm 1.0 and it was cool for a few hours but i got tired of it. I was wondering is there a way to go back to 2.0.6 ? I checked the DMUpdater and its not on the menu for previous roms.. any help would be appreciated, thanks..

What's the difference between the 2? They both seem the same to me, sand the addition of live wallpapers and some rebranding of Sholes to DM. As far as where to get 2.0.6 you might be able to connect to their IRC channel and as them for it.

I feel stupid (droidmod)

I just rooted and created nandroid backups via the video tutorials on this site. I want to use droidrom 1.0 as my new rom, should I use the DMupdater to do this or should I do it the way it's done in the video tutorials on this site?

- Is there any pros or cons?
- If I should do it as described in the videos where can I get the zip?
- Any other newbie help would be great
- Should I just follow these directions? Loading DroidMod Roms with DMupdater, Reflashing to Older Sholes/DroidMod Roms

Use DMUpdater.
You already have a nandroid back up (if anything goes wrong).
Now let the app do its work.
After the nandroid it's pretty much whatever you want installed or uninstalled.
Have fun.
