So I broke my HTC One yesterday, dropped it while sitting down on the paving slap and this is what it looks like... luckily I have insurance on it!

Ouch...

What kind of insurance do you have on it? The ones through the carriers still require some kind of deductible.

Ouch! How far did it drop? That looks painful.

it was about 1.5 metres from the ground, not high at all so was quite surprised it smashed as bad. even the back camera area looks messed up

Ouch!

That sucks, glad you have insurance. This is just one of those things that can happen to any phone.

Good thing you have insurance. Be more care on you next One.

I learned not to put my phone on my lap, dropped my first Bold 9000 when I got out of my car. Thankfully it was just a chip on the corner.

I luckily didn't bust up my S3 when I first got it but I learned this lesson as well... No marks but I swore I wouldn't put it in my lap anymore lol :P.

No guaranty the screen wouldn't have broken with a cover.

Lesson is be careful with your stuff.

True. No phone "needs one". Depends how careful you can be.. I treat my S3 like a baby still and it's just as good the day I bought it :).

Of courseeee not.....
But it would have GREATLY reduced the chances of this happening.

Since when did a case cover the screen? If I dropped my htc, or any phone really, face first onto a rock it's going to shatter the screen. Why are you trying to justify your plastic when this is a question of glass?

Case or not, you might want to have your keyboard checked; it seems to be sticking a bit.

My dog chewed on my phone today, luckily I had an otterbox on it. Still scratched the metal around the speakers and on the edges of the phone. Screen doesn't have any damage on it.
