Dropping a pin in Google Maps

OK, for gianthobbit, Mange, Kash76, and hopefully all the others who have posted on this subject...

Here is an app from Google Play that does (what I believe) EXACTLY what you want it to. Search for com.sugree.geopin and install it to your android device.

Open the app, and it brings up a Google Map. Move the map around to where you want to set the pin and get the coordinates. (NOTE: Keep the coordinates in decimal degrees (DDD.ddddd) otherwise the reversing of the process gets messed up and it will not work right.) Select the options and "SHARE" the location, storing it to a note pad app of your choosing.

Now, for reversing the process and finding a saved location, simply select the note where you saved the coordinates, copy the entire coordinate phrase, and paste it into the latitude window; note where the longitude coordinate starts and if it is a negative (western hemisphere) or not. Now type the longitude coordinate into the window and hit "OK", and viola! There you go.

I hope that you all find this helpful.

Minor correction, copy the coordinates from the note and paste them into the search area of Google Maps, and you will be "flown" to the location.

We have recently published update to Planimeter - GPS Area Measure app with ability to bookmark (make notes) locations for mapping purposes. You can save your pins, open and edit notes and quickly switch to Google Maps navigation for the selected point. Please see the demo video below:
