DST Wrong on Time/Weather Widget...

Re: something to look forward to

I just got off of A Support Chat from Samsung.
I order to get the time correct, you go into Storage, and Clear Cache.
Then go to the in my case, the Weather Widget, and find the Cache and clear it.

That will reset the time to correct time on the widget.

I did that yesterday. It was temporary. As soon as I re-added the current location, it broke.

I was having the same issue, but as of a couple minutes ago the clock updated itself when I hit refresh. Hopefully it's the same for everyone, or will be soon.

Re: something to look forward to

Making this change worked for me. It will be great to have no more DST annoyances with this issue in the future. Thanks Mike Mellen.

I forgot to quote his fix so I'll add it here:

"Mike Mellen: Ive been having this issue with my S8. I just did a simple fix, however. I deleted the dual "weather and clock" widget that I was using, and replaced it with both the "digital clock" widget and the "weather" widget. Adjust them to the smaller size and it looks the same as the dual widget, only the clock is now correct because it's based on the phones clock and not the weather service clock"

It's been well over a few hours and still hasn't corrected itself. This never happened in any previous version Galaxy series phone I had. Not that I can recall and I'm anal about things like this so I would remember.

I've had this issue ever since the time changed on my Note 8 hasn't corrected itself yet but I do have a Samsung tablet e and that one corrected itself so I'm going to try the other thing with the smaller clock in the smaller weather thing so hopefully that will work out

Have any of you submitted a bug report to the author of the defective widget? If so, did they reply?

This morning I sent an email to weather.com and asked them to update their web site for DST. About an hour later the correct time updated when I clicked the little sync under the temp on the widget. Refresh your widget and you should see the correct time now.

I tried that yesterday and it didn't work, but I tried again and the little refresh button worked. Thanks!

The solution that works permanently for me (CST, Chicago) is to delete DATA and then manually add the city. When the app automatically adds the city is where the glitch seems to happen as you can see here...

I tried that before I emailed the web site and when I manually added in the city, the time went back to an hour behind.

I had the same issue for the last two days as well. Right now it is in fact working properly. I long pressed the widget, clicked app info, cleared data, force stopped, exited to home screen. Shows correct time without current weather as there is no location selected. Long pressed widget once again, clicked app info, cleared data once again, force stopped again. I then exited back to home screen, clicked the weather icon, allowed current location, exited to home screen and the current weather and correct time are being displayed for now

Go to setting, apps and find the weather and weather forecast apps. Force stop them both and clear the cache. You'll have to reset your location but the time will be fixed.

This..finally worked for me, after fiddling and waiting for over a day for it to rectify itself, as was suggested elsewhere. (On an aside, coming from the ever buggy Essential PH-1 phone, i'm really disappointed in some of the bugs on my S8+)

Hot diggity, that finally worked for me! THANKS! Had my doubts with so many people reporting mixed results with various solutions. We'll see if it sticks! Hopeful, as this was one annoying little bug!

Mine just now corrected by itself without me doing anything LOL

Exactly the same for me. Last night the TWC app was updated to DST with absolutely no interaction from me. So the widget is now correctly presenting DST as well.

I never got a single "fix" to work persistently.

Looking forward to November! :)
