Yes, the DTEK50 has an FM radio which the DTEK60 does not have.

As with most FM radios, it needs some sort of arial and the arial is far to short inside the phone so the headphone cord acts as one. So YES your need some sort of cable attached to the headphone jack port for the radio to work. Even if you plug in battery bowered speakers to the headphone port it will still work perfectly.
