Dumped T-Mobile Digits

It's about the number that goes out not the text received when it comes to number sync digits etc.

It has been stated to you in multiple threads everyone has two numbers no way around that. Even T-Mobile has two numbers I have then and I have two numbers but no one has my watch number. I guess you don't get it although its been explained to you in different ways in different threads. If you want standalone features you will have two numbers the work arounds are in place so you don't have to ever share the watch number.

Good luck

You guess I don't get it? Listen Sweetheart, I get it. Do I like it? No! Do I want two phone numbers? No! But that's just the way it is and I understand that. I watched the video you posted and I'm wondering how DIGITS will supposedly work with AT&T and Verizon considering T-Mobile came up with the idea.

There are ways to use non T-Mobile devices on Digits, but I think having a T-Mo watch use the number assigned to an AT&T phone is outside the abilities since T-Mo doesn't control the phone's number. When you use a device where you just download the app I think the device's native provider is less important but when you're using built-in capabilities and a SIM T-Mo needs control of the device and the primary phone number.

Numbersync is essentially an AT&T specific version of (at least parts of) Google Voice capabilities. My understanding of what T-Mo is trying to do is that they want to have a central location where your "phone number" info is stored and the ability to apply and share that data among more than one device. In the end, I'd like to see them sync text conversations and phone call records across all the devices Digits is set up on for that number so you can move from PC to tablet to secondary phone to watch to primary phone and still track the entire conversation regardless of what you sent/answered/called from which device. So far, the watch-using-the-phone's-number part does exactly what I'm looking for.

The watch does what I want it to too but I just don't like having two phone numbers but oh well.

Left the apartment with a fully charged Samsung S7 edge in my backpack. Twenty minutes later I opened it to find my battery at 83%. Battery usage in settings showed Digits at the top of the list. Done with my short test of T-Mobiles Digits as it seems it's not ready for prime time. Hopefully, T-Mobile will let us know when they fix it. If I hadn't looked at my phone for half the day, which is normal for me, the thing would have been stone dead.

Did you report the problem to TMO? It's in beta testing, not the finished product. The feedback is what they depend on to improve things and get it working as intended. If you don't notify them of the problem, they won't know what to check.

It depends on which way you are trying to use digits.

If you are trying to have one number on multiple devices it is handled on T-Mobiles side not handled through your phone so I think that is why you do not need the app. So you should not have to do anything after everything is set up on the T-Mo side. I did have to give them my watch information when setting things up so it would work correctly.

If you are trying to have multiple numbers on your S7 Edge then yes you need the app.

I would assume most people in the S3 area of the forum want their watches to send out their phones number (one number on multiple devices) so they do not have to give out the watches number out and confuse people. Since I have been a beta user on digits my watch does not even use data according to my account. Prior to using digits it did because I do leave my phone pretty regularly at work and when I workout in the mornings.

If you think you configured it incorrectly you can re-register with digits but again you do NOT need the app on your phone if you are trying to do the one number on multiple devices.

Hope this does not confuse you more than it helps.

With DIGITS, the calls, messages AND data are counted to your phone. So your watch usage will always show 0 because everything goes through the alternative number that is tied to your phone. This applies to BT or standalone.

Are you saying that the Digits number can't be tied to the watch? So what if I have an S3 on T-Mobile and my phone with Verizon? The S3 would have Digits and send calls and texts (cross carrier) to my phone. Wouldn't the watch be the master, since it's the only device under T-Mobile control?

It's been working flawlessly for me. The only reason I may dump it is that I wasn't able to switch to the new taxes included plan without jumping through hoops, because of the DIGITS number.

Anyone else have that issue?

So you're saying your phone is on Verizon, but the watch is TMO? I'm not sure you can use DIGITS with your Verizon phone. My understanding is that your phone must be TMO since it's the main device mating up to your other devices. DIGITS is a TMO only service, and you phone must have a TMO number and SIM, if I'm not mistaken. You need to call TMO Customer Service to find out the facts.

In T-Mobile's intro video, they stated Digits was capable of working with devices on other networks. This could be useful in situations where T-Mobile's network wasn't good enough for a primary device, but sufficient for secondary devices. So the primary number would be assigned to a secondary device on T-Mobile, but calls would still ring to the primary device on a different carrier.

In theory it should work, I'm just wandering whether someone has done it. Its not a problem for me, I'm a Google Voice user. But I am interested in keeping abreast of Digits development and the other carriers efforts to allow us to share one number across multiple devices.

any updates on how digits is working for everyone ?? I just signed up Yesterday. my interest is only having my main phone(Mate 9) and my watch (Frontier) share the same number and Mirror my calls and notifications.

updates from everyone here will be helpfull :)

Digits has been working well for me. I tested it with my S3 Frontier and now I am testing a 2nd number with on my phone.

just got digits today. mate 9 and s3 watch. as soon as the connection was made the watch now works perfect. notifications and sounds.... now i can use all the stock apps for both.

Working great for me. If was using call forwarding from the Gear App at first, but it was a poor solution because the app had to be active when call forwarding was taking place, and it would keep my phone screen on. Secondly, when you reduced the Tmobile forwarding time to the minimum 5 seconds, it would disable voice mail.

Now everything works great, and the Frontier rings at the exact same time as my phone.

So when I activate/enroll in digits - so I disable the call forwarding function from the gear app?

Also what other setting changes are recommended, either on the gear app or the settings on the S3 itself to make digits work properly and flawlessly. Thanks

Yes you no longer need the Gear App to forward calls because all calls will now ring on phone and watch at the same time.(when Bluetooth is not connected) Nothing else is really needed. T-MOBILE has a helpful Digits department if you need assistance.
