Early upgrade questions

They won't move your NE2, they'll just use your early upgrade option. It's available on the primary line, and allows you to get the 2-year contract price + $20 fee. You will reset your NE2 date and will not receive a discount. I believe you can do an early upgrade 10 months into a 2 year contract on your primary line but I'm not positive on that.

Sorry if this has been said...but I am eligible for my NE2 as of right now...have been for a couple months in fact. My question is, why am I only getting a 50 dollar discount on it? I have a family share plan in which my line is 89.99 a month, and my two younger sisters' lines are 20.00 each, so for example my last phone bill was 140 dollars more or less. And also, does that seem a high bill? We get 500 shared minutes...I have unlimited data...and they have regular "dumb" phones. Thanks for any help you can give.

They recently changed all the NE2 credits. They did this because they are discounting the phones a LOT more than they used to.

When they came out with the NE2 100 credit, the Maximum amount a phone would be discounted from retail for a 2 year agreement was $120. So for example, if you were to buy the droidx back then, it would be $450 on a 2 year contract. The NE2 would bring it to $350.

But today you can get the phone for $199. This is a discount of $370 dollars, aka 3x the MAXIMUM discount you would get just a few years ago.

I believe you are right on that as well. I was able to do that when I got my Storm2(gasp) after only 10 months into service with a storm1. I had to pay the $20 and extend my contract by 2 years. Wish I would have waited to do that to get the Incredible.

I would call customer service before you try. In my experience (and according to a rep on the phone) they can accomplish much more on the phone than the in store reps can. So you can call customer service and make sure that they set up your account so you can just walk in and upgrade with no headaches.

from my experiences, the NE2 $100 discount is only good on the "primary" line of a family plan; the extra lines don't get the $100 discount.

I'm not the primary line on my family plan. I'm am going to try and get the phone under my dads primary line then have it activated on my line. The guy at the verizon store assured me that there wouldn't be a problem by doing this.

Do you think Customer Service will have an issue with this?

My NE2 is due in the middle of Sept and they said they could only push it up to end of July, early August. I called multiple times at different hours of the day and got the same response so I am in the same boat and I don't think they are budging.

mine is coming up on 8/15....30 days....i'm going to call today and let you know how I make out....

They shouldn't I've never done it with the NE2 but I've done it on other upgrades. Verzion still gets there money for a phone and locks that line in for another 2 years thats all that matters

Ok so my upgrade date is on the 25th and I called 3 times and the last time the lady was pretty much wrapped around my finger but the supervisor said they dont have authorization to do it... gonna try again later today... Should I ask to speak with the supervisor? I explained how since I purchased my Storm, 2 years ago that it has been nothing but problems... I have had that phone replaced 3 or more times ect ect... Doesnt hold much of a charge anymore (when it feels like charging).. I think I am going to try back and ask to speak to a supervisor because I want this phone really badly...

What i did was call dont even mention having problems ( i know its hard i have the original storm too) just say that you want to buy the Droid x tomorrow and would like to have your upgrade date moved from the 25th to the 15th. they will say they need to talk to their supervisor when they did that they said they cant move the upgrade to a specific date so they will move it to today. So as of __ (i called on sunday) you are up for an upgrade.

Worked for me so good luck i feel your pain with the storm 1. Always be polite and dont immediate try and go over there head with a supervisor it kinda makes some of them mad. (just my experience)

Oh yeah if you get turned down just keep calling back

Droid X tomorrow! need a little help

So I am beyond excited for the release of the Droid X however I am having a little issue with Verizon I was told I could get my upgrade 1 month early and still recieve my 100 dollar credit. I called verizon yesterday and they are EXTREMELY reluctant to let this happen now. They are telling me they will not do it. I have called 5 times and spoke with 5 reps and 4 managers all of which basically said screw you in a nice way. I was wondering if their are any tips to get them to budge. Also what is the e-mail address that i would need to send a message to to get this changed. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, 3G Smartphones, the Best Cell Phone Service - Verizon Wireless -> Support tab on top -> Right-hand side of screen: "Get in Touch" -> "Contact Us by email or phone"

Beware, they aren't kidding when they say responses can take up to 24hrs!

Speak to supervisors/managers...don't waste your time speaking to a CSR.

Make sure you are in good standing on your account (pay bills on time, meet the criteria for early upgrade, etc.).

Ok, how screwed am i?

I have a $39 voice plan (along with BB data, messages, etc), NE2 doesn't kick in until May 2011. Contract ends August 2011? I really hate this BB I have, and want an X. Is there any chance at all of getting some sort of discounted price? I hate this phone, but not enough to pay $600 to replace it. I guess being a Verizon customer for 9 years won't mean much to them...

Wow thats a lot of bad...

My guess is full retail or nothing.

If someone you know has an upgrade available maybe you can convince them to get it for you?

Sad face. :(

Just spoke to a CSR, and he said there is a possibility I might have some leeway come September when I hit 1 year on the nose. I just need to survive two more months with this crap phone.

Egz I know how you feel. My yearly upgrade is available on 7/25/10 and I have talked to 1 store employee and 2 customer service reps on the phone and they won't budge and give me 10 days!! Perfect payment record and being extremely respectful on the phone gets me no where, but rules are rules I suppose. So, I will sit back and suffer while all the reviews start pouring in over the next few days and hope there are no "out of stock" issues to contend with in a couple of weeks.
