Hello Everyone,

I have been going mad over this problem.I am using the earphones provided along with Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.My problem is that I am able to hear music with my earphones but problem starts when I am in a call.During a call I am able to hear other persons voice through earphones but people on the other side are not able to hear me. Can some tell me what's wrong in my settings.

Included earphones are rather cheap...they could just be defective. Can you try another set that also have the microphone built in to see if it's the earphones themselves or the port?

No. There are two buttons. One to increase or decrease the volume.Other I guess is to disconnect the call. They working fine initially but now I guess there would be some changes in settings.Oh Yes, I tried with other headphones it's working fine. So if my earphones are damaged how can i get them replaced.I am new to US so I don't how things happen here.I bought the cell phone from T-mobile in April.Could you guide me in this.See the attached image.20150512124503.jpg

Best bet is contacting samsung directly. Stores don't carry extra earphones that come in the box. They are pretty cheap to begin with.

Sent from my Galaxy S6 Edge via the Uncarrier

If a different set works then you got a broken set. Not worth the trouble to try and get them replaced by Samsung in my opinion. Just buy a better set.

Welcome to Android Central! Use a can of compressed air to blow out the jack, in case there's any debris in there. Use a damp toothpick to root around as well.

Solution for me:
Microphone does not work during calls.
I am currently using Lenovo A7000a- Android version 5.0. I had the same problem for about 6 months. I installed many OTA updates, but none fixed it. During calls I could hear the other person, but they cant hear me. However, it worked fine for some time if i restarted my device. So every now and then, I had to restart my device. Also, everything was fine while placing skype calls or whatsapp calls or testing mic recordings. I knew it was a software glitch and the noise cancelling microphone was to blame.
I googled a lot, and scanned through different forums, nothing helped much. Like someone told that using the speakerphone would correct it, but it didnt worked either.I even rooted my device to alter the build prop to change the value of persist.audio.fluence, however, no such element was found in my build prop file
I did two things after doing a lot of research:
1. I cleared the data in Apps>All>Phone/Call
2. Disabled all the apps in Permission Control that had the permission to i)Record ii)Initiate Call iii)Initiate Multiple Party Calls iii)Write MMS (everything that could use your mic.. ofcourse except the system apps).
I am not sure what solved the problem. But now everything is fine with/without earphones with mic. PS: My Call Recording app may be causing this prob, but I am not sure.
My phone is working fine from the past two days...Thought to share my experience with everyone.
Hope that helps.. :)

Hello! I have an issue like this but on a Galaxy Note Edge. The microphone works fine with voice apps (skype, whatsapp, voice notes recorder, etc) but on calls, the other person only hears like a "beep" sound when I speak. Some technicians said that is the microphone, others say that is the logic board... I think there's something with the software...

I want to do what you did to solve this, but I don't get you so much when you mentioned this:

" I cleared the data in Apps>All>Phone/Call
2. Disabled all the apps in Permission Control that had the permission to"

Can you please help me to get more detail about how to do this?

Thanks!!!

Yes, I can confirm your doubt, it's the voice recoder app that was interfering. I was also looking for a solution when I read this. So i went to microphone permission settings and withdrew the permission for voice recorder app. Viola! It works like a charm. Thanks for the suggestion.
I was so satisfied that I created an account, verfied my email and came back to post this comment. Hope others will be benefited from this.
Note this solution is only for headset microphones not working in your device, but working in other devices perfectly.
