EB01 Q&A and Observations Thread

ADW EX

I'm wondering if there is something that this build doesn't like about ADW EX. I'm going through the setup right now with just superclean 2.1 nv and the sns facebook patch. My phone is absolutely rocking through the setup at thunderbolt, I mean lightning speed.

With that: Has anyone else been prompted to do a firmware update for the camera when they open it?

I got the same thing when I tried to take a picture. Any luck in resolving it, cory? it gave me three options after I clicked yes. Don't know which one to do, so I backed out. Help and thanks in advance.

that was answered somewhere else. let me see if I can find it

I actually just did this :)

If I remember correctly there is only one option with "write" in the title. Use that one.

For camera firmware:

This is the bottom button in the prompt. The other two buttons just are for displaying camera and phone firmware versions.

Click the third button, let it download, then reboot. No big deal. :)

Does anyone know if the camera still geo tags?

thanks to DroidXcon who once again saved me. My problem with the force closes was when I did my titanium bu restore I chose all apps with data instead of all missing apps with data. Also seemed like once again ADW EX did not play nicely with EB01. I really liked ADW EX, but hey I'd rather have the latest Froyo without my favorite launcher than my favorite launcher without the latest Froyo.

Pretty fed up at this point.

Thanks Sammy and vzw.

WiFi = it works fine also. However, maybe there's a bug we don't know about that relates to how your access point is configured. I only use Mac address filtering and hide by SSID.

Did you guys both start with a fresh install of DL09? Wipe/Hard Reset.

My router is set up to mac filter but it does broadcast the SSID. So I don't think that is it. Someone else somewhere also posted about wifi dropping for no reason.

I went all the way back to stock, updated to DI01, then DL09, THEN DL30. I went straight from DL30 to EB01. I was already experiencing horrible battery life on DL30 and Black_Man_X even posted in a thread somewhere about DL30 failing with one of the reasons being battery issues on "some devices".

I'm still experiencing battery issues, I've tried the tweaks I've read in other areas. Either I was getting unbelievable battery before and didn't know it, or I'm getting lousy battery now.

Are you suggesting that for EB01 it might be best to step back to a clean DL09 and load up EB01 from there? Now that I'm convinced MyBackup Pro is doing what it is supposed to be (and doing it well), I actually don't really mind the idea of starting over. I know my programs and what-not work with Froyo so restoring the backup should be o.k.

Okay, I'm only writing this, because this is a documented list of steps I took to get to EB01. I don't want to distract anyone away from the stickies, but if you're an advanced user, curious as to what I did, and don't need all the gory details here you go:

1.) Download and put this EB01 zip on your SD card (note: I think I accidentally named the zip itself EB30.
2.) Download and put this CWM red file on your SD card.
3.) Download DJ09 to your desktop and the flash it with ODIN.
4.) Download this CWM Red file and flash with ODIN
5.) Flash this EB01 radio with ODIN
6.) Use CWM red (boot into Samsung recovery first and then install the update.zip from step 2 to boot into CWM red) to install the EB01 zip you downloaded in step 1.

OKay...so i have made headway and found my problem wiht the AOSP lock screen. For those who are interested, you need to be on a Deodexed rom to do it. I was using the stock and it just would not locked over till i was using Adrynalyne's Deodexed Froyo update, then the lock screen was correct. So now i am on Butch's superdark theme (since he updated it YAY!) running EB01 with my right lock screen and found a Samsung Keyboard apk that works....I am happy and if people need links to anything just let me know and i can upload it and host it as needed.

Go Devs!

Actually it sounds like you did all the right things. Something is definitely whack because I will tell you now, if I were having WiFi issues I would be back on DL09 in a New York minute. So, if it were me, I would do the following explicitly.

1) fresh flash of DJ09
2) Install the latest CWM red
3) Flash the EB01 radio with ODIN
4) Use CWM to flash the EB01 update.
5) Do not restore with My Backup Pro for at least 60 minutes of WiFi testing has been completed, or you are convinced WiFi is still borked; whichever comes first.

I hate to distract from anyone else's procedures or files, but I will upload all the files I referenced above if you want them, as I don't think they've been posted exactly as I've written.

Thank you for the offer...no need...I have EVERYTHING. All the way back to stock (whatever that was called).

Cool. I hope it works. I updated post #36 with hyperlinks to all the files I used if anyone else wants them.

@evanture: Lol at your signature :)

No, I went from DL30 to EB01 using the instructions here. Probably a work-around somewhere for GV, and Vlingo works perfectly..

Also, my wi-fi connects fine.
