Edge Case

I gave in and bought a UAG case. Got it today. Not a big fan of the opaque "color" but I don't want to destroy an almost $1000 phone, either. If UAG comes out with a black case, I might get one.

It was a no-brainer for me to purchase the UAG case since I am a "dropper" and after seeing TBRAN's pics, I was sold. It should arrive on Monday.
It's all about function, not fashion.

I'm 100% function over form. That doesn't mean looks don't matter. I still think the "clear"ish UAG case is cheap looking (bordering on ugly). Obviously doesn't mean I won't use it.

UAG is smart to be the first to create case for the Edge. No competition, so it doesn't really matter if it is ugly or not, they get all the sales from those looking for some protection of their $1000 phone. As long as it fits and does the job I'll give them my money and may switch when more options are available. Who knows, I have never seen the case other then in some videos so maybe I'll love it.

I also love UAG cases. I buy them for every one of my phones. I've had orange, white and clear. They are suppose to have another color coming. Mine will be here next week. No case until then.

Really solid case. I like it.

Not sure if I'm missing any other posts about the UAG Maverick Case for the Note Edge. Just got mine yesterday. It is pretty impressive in looks, quality and fit.But I expected nothing less since I use their cases for all of my phones. I do have a slightly used Note Edge Case-Mate POP case if anyone wants one half price, since I'm sticking with the UAG.

How hard is it to put on and take off?

The UAG comes off like any snug Candyshell style case. You start at a corner and start prying corner to corner. It takes 15 seconds.

Two cases came in yesterday. The cheap light weight plastic case: AccessoryGeeks.com | Orange Slim Protective Rubberized Hard Case Cover for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge | Free Shipping!

Unfortunately the volume control is difficult to use with it on. Also, the thin plastic strip above the volume control broke when putting it on. Lucky I spent only $6 on it. 1 out of 5 stars. Would give it 2 stars without the break.

The other case is the UAG. It is quite impressive and not shiny and gaudy looking as I thought. I would prefer a smooth back instead of the large indents and fake bolts around the UAG logo, but with the clear back it is not too bad. The case is light and adds minimum bulk to this already bulky phone. If you want to protect against a drop on tile, I think this phone would do it.

Out of the pocket, phone is easier to grip and hold. In the pocket, I definitely know its there much more then the naked phone.

4 out of 5 stars. Nicked one start for the design on the back. They go a bit overboard with the branding. A simple UAG with a flat clear back would be nice. BTW some might like the showy look of the back so it might be a 5 star case for you. Choices are very limited so I will use this case for 6 months and look at my options for something more professional looking.

About the same as any Candyshell style case. You start at a corner and start prying corner to corner. It takes 15 seconds.

Interesting, because the one for the Note 4 is difficult to take off

If they simply use the same design approach, and don't add anything to make it more rigid, the edge case will have more give to it for removal and installation because you lose the corner of the phone that the case would "clip" onto.

It's definitely not a quick/easy removal like a soft silicone case, but I would not say it's difficult.

New, figured since I got an Edge id join up as I am in search of accessories.
Contacted Lifeproof a week ago and they said they had no plans for production of a case for the Edge, bit sad about that since as it has been said here id like to protect my $1000 phone.
Though it was only 399 at sprint when I got it last weekend with a 2yr upgrade. :)

Purchased a cheap ebay case for it, and after seeing everyone liking the UAG I've decided to buy one as well.

Hey, all! Moving on over here from the webOS forum. Very sad to have had to give up on that O/S, but I have to say I'm thrilled with my new Edge!

So...I, too, am looking for a case, and since I'm trying to soak up all sorts of new knowledge, may I ask a really lame question? What is the purpose of getting a case that in essence only protects the back and edges of a phone, when the glass (front) is what's most vulnerable?

A corollary to this question is that I was looking for a folding ("book-type" or "flip") cover since it saved my bacon on numerous instances on previous glass-fronted cellphones...but I read an amazon review tonight that indicated that the magnet on at least one brand of folding protector wreaks havoc with the S-Pen...and it's a known issue since the Note 2.

Bottom line is that I want something that will protect my device and allow me to use it at the same time (e.g., snap open the case to take a picture without having to remove the phone, etc.).

Thoughts to share with an Android newbie?

you should take a look at this one from verus. its a flip cover with no magnet to interfere with the s-pen

Thank you. Yes, this looks like the one at the AT&T store that was shown to me when I got my Edge. Clever design...but it doesn't protect the "edge" and would it open without something to hold it closed?

For you UAG users, can you chime in on what the inner material of the case is? Wanting to know if there's any softness or give on the inside, as I'd want to use the case in conjunction with the S Charging back. This back adds a tiny bit of thickness - the camera hump essentially turns flush with it on - and I'm worried I can only use one at a time.

I like the sophistication look of the flip wallet. I'm not really about to go over-board with these exotic cases. Nothings 100% and that's what insurance is for. I could never do the UAG. I'm about the fashion. I want to look good when I pull it out in my suit. And If it breaks, I call it in, pay the deductible and get another one.
