I had the same issue with my Samsung Edge lighting not working properly on my S21 or S24, and I figured out what was causing it! The problem was related to a security feature that hides notifications until the device recognizes your face. This happens if you have facial recognition unlock enabled. While it’s a great security feature, it can interfere with the Edge lighting effect for notifications.
Here’s how to fix it while still keeping facial recognition unlock enabled:
1. **Go to Settings**: Open the Settings app on your Samsung device.
2. **Navigate to Biometrics and Security**: Tap on "Biometrics and Security" in the settings menu.
3. **Facial Recognition**: Select "Facial Recognition" and enter your PIN, password, or pattern if prompted.
4. **Turn Off "Hide Content"**: Look for the option labeled "Hide Content" or "Keep Content Hidden" and toggle it off. This will allow notifications to show up on the lock screen without requiring facial recognition first.
5. **Check Edge Lighting Settings**: To ensure Edge lighting works, go to **Settings > Notifications > Brief Pop-up Settings > Edge Lighting Style**. Make sure Edge lighting is enabled and customize the style if desired.
By turning off the "Hide Content" option, you’ll still be able to use facial recognition to unlock your phone, but your notifications will display immediately with the Edge lighting effect. This way, you get the best of both worlds—security and the flashy notifications Samsung is known for!
Let me know if this helps!
