Edge + Screen Brightness - Is there any resolution yet?

I haven't officially seen anything. My girlfriend has the same phone though but for a different carrier and her phone does not behave this way.

I find it very odd that you would say that Samsung has even acknowledged this as a bug/glitch and then go on to say that you haven't seen any such statement.

Do you work for Samsung or something dude is that why you are so vehemently defending them? Jeez. Have I seen, with my own two eyes, an official release about it? No. Did Verizon acknowledge to me over the phone that Samsung is and I quote "Aware of the problem"? Yes they did. And if this is some weird auto-brightness setting that is not a defect, then why is it happening on my Verizon phone but not happening on my girl's Sprint phone? I didn't see you respond to acknowledge that.

I didn't reply to that because all the proof we have to go on with that subject is your word, which -as I have quoted above- is not very accurate. I have two S6 Edge+ as I have shown on this thread and experience none of these mysterious screen defects.

What you're describing however sounds exactly like the outdoor brightness overdrive mode described here. It's NOT a defect and it's just normal behavior of the screen. It's basically like a speed governor in a car in which theoretically, the car could go faster but is electronically limited by a computer for the safety of the engine and the driver.

I'm not defending Samsung because I don't have to, I'm just stating facts. What you're describing isn't a defect, but I can tell that you're aggravated that you can't turn up your screen brightness past the software limitation in which case I have no solution for you. But don't try to drum up controversy on these forums by trying to convince us (and yourself) that there's somehow some widespread screen defect that exists with these devices and Samsung has "already acknowledged it" (according to Verizon according to you). It's a whole bunch of "he said she said" trying to pass off as facts, but without evidence.

Now if you can actually provide us with some visual proof of this defect that you or someone else has presented (being so allegedly widespread as it is) like a Youtube video or something then I'd be more than happy to help you troubleshoot this problem. Until then, judging from my own devices, I can't say there's any issue here aside from your perception of what you should and shouldn't be able to do with the screen brightness regardless of the software settings.

If you really want full control of the hardware, then root your device. If you're so convinced that your device has a software bug then take control of the situation and install your own software. Because as far as I can tell, none of us here have any solutions for you. Trying to convince us that there's a bug on the software when none of us can replicate the symptoms won't really get us anywhere either.

I always turn the "auto brightness" feature off, never have had any problems as mentioned in this thread.

Once again, if you're having problems with your device, then you need to go back and speak with your service provider. As I read your statement, it sounds like your phone acts differently from your girlfriends which leads me to believe that you got a bad one.

I have the edge +, what is the brightness issue you are having, my issue is the lock screen seems to be dimmer than the home screen.
I also had this issue.

I discovered that when I set the lockscreen to unlock with my fingerprint, there was a dark tint on the lockscreen.
When I changed my unlock method to swipe, the tint disappeared and full brightness was restored.

Yep. Nothing wrong with my brightness either. Are people coming in new to Samsung Amoled screens? Because this issue seems to come with every Galaxy release.
