Editing network files

Hi

I am trying to use a nexus 7 to browse and edit Microsoft Office files on a Network File Share.

I am using ES File Explorer and QuickOffice Pro but it is not working as I hoped.

I can configure ES to connect to the network and browse my files, this works really well. But when I open a Word Document, it downloads it to my device and then opens it in QuickOffice. I can then edit the file, but when I save it it saves to the local device, not the network. I could then use ES to find the local copy and then replace the file on the network, but that it not exactly ideal.

Does anyone have a good way of editing network files?

Cheers

Andy

Quick Office is intended to save files to the device and/or Google Drive in the cloud. It was not intended to work the way you are expecting. What you are doing is the only workaround that I am aware of.

Had little success with fx file explorer. Can edit txt files on the network through fx's built in editor but not doc files as its corrupts the formatting of it. (lots of ascii characters after saving file)

So it looks like it is possible in some way. Also to get the full functionality of FX you need to pay for it. (7 day trial though)
