[EI22][GINGERBREAD] Gingerbread " Bug Thread "

Anyone else experiencing high call volume? It seems really loud when I made a call yesterday with the volume at a minimum. Also I've had some crappy battery life.

OTA update if that matters.

I noticed that the red notification light will come on any time the screen is lit and stay on solid until the screen goes back into sleep mode *only* after I pull it from the Samsung dock that I use to charge the phone at night. I have to power cycle the phone to stop this behavior.

It does however seem that the bluetooth -> disconnect -> ha ha, you have no audio anymore! bug is fixed though so I can live with a red light.

i found after the update the phone had turned off 3g had to go into menu and turn back on

:-> Sometimes it's the simple things.... I had been all through menus and what not looking for something like this. Then your post reminded me that I hadn't looked at the menu that comes up when you press the power button. Sure enough, the data network had been de-activated.

I really love this community!

Thanks once again to all who help!

Hey gang,

Anyone having issues with the wallpaper changing sizes or magnifying after the update? When I set it, it is fine and then when I start to use the phone it changes and stays that way. If this has been covered already I apologize. In a hurry to go to work and wanted to get this posted. Thanks.

Post GB update - Launcher screwed up

I received the GB update this morning and the Launcher only has an "Applications" icon and doesn't have others such as Phone, Contacts, Messaging. What am I missing?

Go into your application list.. Then click on Menu, I believe you will get an Edit option or something to that effect and you can drag and drop applications to your launcher dock.

Which launcher are you using? If you are using the stock touchwiz launcher you my have to re-add them. As touchwiz was updated in gingerbread. If you have something different (such as launcher pro) it shouldn't have changed.

Yes occasionally but it did it before the update as well.

Just got the over the air update for my phone (not rooted) and thought I'd check into some of the issues I've seen listed here. The only one I've been able to check out so far is the camera shutter. I went into the settings and noticed the shutter sound is still listed as "off" When I went in an looked the option to turn it off was no longer listed. However since the setting is still set to off it did not make a sound when I tested the camera. My first thought is that since I had it set to off when I updated it stayed as off. Haven't attempt to select one of the shutter sounds in fear of losing the ability to regain the the off shutter sound.

This was it. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure my camera was set to a silent shutter sound before I updated, but the option for that is gone and it's making noise now. Unfortunately, I didn't do a test immediately before poking around the settings, so I don't know if it would have stayed silent as yours did.

On a different note, does anyone have brief drop-outs on their WiFi connections? I use an app that lets me skip the lock screen when connected to my home WiFi, and every now and then it doesn't work. When I unlock the phone, the WiFi icon is off, but quickly comes back on, and then the lock-skipping works fine. It's not a big deal, but I'm wondering if this is a more general thing or just me for some reason.

I restored my phone back to Froyo and am waiting for the OTA because when you hit ##3282# (DATA) view none of your DATA is programmed with the manual update.

Huh???

Edit: when I dial ##3282# I can view my data profile and edit it. What exactly is missing?

I did the manual update...

How do you restore the phone back to Froyo? I manually updated from stock Froyo to GB two days ago, and it's been a nightmare:

1. Am unable to use phone as external modem to USB my home wifi into laptop (worked just fine with stock Froyo).

2. Signal strength for both Sprint and home wifi almost non-existant.

3. Phone shuts completely down at random.

4. Overall response greatly slowed.

5. Battery life cut, about in half.

Tried a factory reset, but if anything, it made all of these problems worse.

Will rooting my phone get me out of this mess? I need my tether! Otherwise I have to actually **sit upright** at my desk to get my webs! I tell you, this can't go on! o_O

EDIT: I am sitting with my phone next to my router, and my phone gets as far as "obtaining IP address:" before announcing that network is "not in range." Several other devices are currently connected. Argh.

Sounds like you had a bad update or something, the random reboots is not normal behavior even of this update...

Anyways to return to stock Froyo EC05...

The only issue of concern for me so far is the wireless indicator. I'll be fairly close to the WiFi node I'm associated with and have a supposedly very weak signal. So far, however, it appears as if I can associate and remain associated, though.

Yes... My home wifi is showing a much weaker signal as well. I used to have it maxed out anywhere in the house and could even get as signal almost anywhere in my yard. Now I get less than half of what it was and is dead as soon as I step out the door. Used to get up to 20mb/sec. download. Now it's closer to 9mb/sec. So its not only the signal but the speed as well.
