[EI22][GINGERBREAD] Gingerbread " Bug Thread "

My wife's phone did the update yesterday it told her she was low on memory so of course she moved things to the SD card. Now her contacts are gone off her "toolbar" area so is her phone and messenger apps.Any idea of how to get these back?:-\
Are you talking about your launcher dock at the bottom of the screen?

If so go into the applications list. Press Menu and then I believe you will an option to EDIT. You can then drag and drop whichever applications to your launcher dock at the bottom.

Gingerbread problems

Battery is a little better and every thing else seems to be working fine except.....no led notification light when charging and computer will not recognise the phone at all anymore for file sharing with us cable. It workers before the update and i have the supermarket cord so I know that is not the problem.

Anyone else with issues such as these?

Anus advice on a fix?

I'll add to the list. My wife's 4G (was stock Froyo) has the "shut off for no reason" problem. I tried pulling the battery and that didn't do anything. My 4G (was rooted) is doing OK so far.

Jim M,

Actually i did not find my problem listed on said forum.

When I plug my phone into the charger, the red led light does not come on anymore. Also, when I plug the charger into the phone, the screen does not come on. When I manually turn the screen on, when the phone is charging, the screen goes to sleep mode after the screen timer runs out (1 minute). I have went to setting - applications - development - keep screen on while charging - and checked this option. This just started yesterday.

Other bugs. Random freezing, have to do battery pulls to unfreeze. Several times I have been on a call, and I am just talking away and getting feedback from my listener on the other end. Suddenly they get quiet, and no matter how loud I get...they can't hear me? It's like in mid conversation hitting a mute button so they can't hear me. I have checked the mute button while on a call, it is not highlighted.

As mentioned above, While on a call, I can no longer pull down the notification bar. I have to go to my homescreen and then i can pull it down.

Battery life seems to be about the same.

Phone seems to lag on everything I do. From loading apps, opening the gallery, dialing phone numbers etc. When ending a call, sometimes I have to press the end call button 5-6 times before it will disconnect.

I also lost the charge led light when charging but only when I use an after market charger. When I use the charger that came with the phone, everything works fine. I'm not seeing any of your other issues.
This is on both my epics...

Point being, that's where you should of posted this complaint. Not on it's own thread. :)

Now to your problem. I have had the same problem but only when using an after market charger. is this happening with the stock samsung charger.

I searched for "calendar" in this thread, but it didn't look like this issue was mentioned. Has anyone else noticed a problem with past events not showing up? It looks like future events from my primary Google calendar are showing up fine, but I'm only getting a few months in the past. Before that, only some seem to appear (mostly repeating events from what I can tell, but not all of those either), and if I go back into 2010, I don't seem to get anything from my primary calendar. All I see are some repeating holidays, which I've stored in other calendars. Does anyone know of a way around this problem? I can live with it, but it's weird not to be able to scroll back and see my past events. Thanks for any help you can provide.

P.S. -- My primary Google calendar definitely has events in the past, so it's not like there's nothing to show.

Sigh. Same here... wifi connectivity at home seems to be significantly degraded. I can't seem to get more than one or two "wave bars" and I used to get 4 steady. On the positive side, I think my 3G and 4G connectivity may actually be a little better... :-\

One issue I had/have is that I am missing text messages. Like maybe 10 total over the past week. that might not seem bad, but the guys who work for me sometimes text me they're going to be late or are not coming in.

I did a hard reset/factory wipe and it still didn't fix it.

I called sprint and they said it was a known issue. The lady opened a ticket for me to have the phone bumped back down to froyo. I took it to the sprint store and left it for 2 hours. When i picked it up, there was a note attached. "Did factory reset and sent 6 test messages. Works great :)"

Nice. I was very clear that I already did the factory reset twice trying to fix it.

Still have GB. Haven't missed a text yet, but I wouldn't have been crushed to downgrade to froyo again. definitely bummed about having to install my apps again for the third time this week.

What happened to the + / - zoom buttons that used to be in the lower right corner of the browser? They would show up once you start panning around the browser.

At least the scroll bar visuals are back as you pan around the browser.

I noticed the same thing. Older events are on the Google calendar but not on phone gmail calendar. I have remarked before about other calendar bugs (default calender & notification silenced) but not much feedback from the community. My old Samsung i330 Palm phone had a much more reliable calendar app than my E4G!

Sprint here in Seattle told me that no downgrade was available. They ordered me a replacement phone, hoping it would ship with Froyo. We'll see tomorrow.

anyone having the issues when you touch the mic you hear feedback from the speaker...i hard reset still did it, only way it would stop was when i backed dated back to 2.2....another samsung software update epic #fail

I was running bonsai 3.0.something before the upgrade and it did push to me but crashed during the upgrade, not unexpected but I figured what the heck. I odin'd back to EC05 and then did the OTA update from a fresh device and I have to say I couldn't be more pleased. I'm not having any of the bugs you guys are talking about. My wifi's got a good strength and pushing at 21 MB/S, better then my laptops do. My battery life seems so good, I actually pulled the extended battery I've been using and went back to the stock battery and so far the performance is fantastic. We'll see after a few more days of use.

I haven't noticed any bugs, just some of the little things that bonsai made nicer I miss, the battery percentage meter, the text messages off the call log, etc...

Still, I haven't had any more random reboots, crashes, or anything like that since upgrading. Put me in the very happy camper list and if it keeps performing as such I don't think I'll flash any different roms. I did root right away, however.

Did someone mention that the call volume was really high after the upgrade? I had tht problem, too. My mother talks really loud and I couldn't turn it down. Then I took the phone away from my head and i saw that if I turned it up, then I could turn it down. It sticks at like 90% volume. If you turn it up, then it can go down. Thank God. Mom was blowing my ears out making plans for t-giving.
