Email icon not working on my tablet

[Android Central Question]

Went to use my laptop and in order to sign in to my emails I had yo change password. When I tapped on email icon on my tablet nothing happened. Tried sending myself an email this failed. Tried signing in with new password keeps saying sign in failed.how can I update my password on my tablet

Welcome to Android Central! Which tablet, and which email app? If you're using the stock Email app, did you change the password in that email account's credentials (in the email app's settings)? Is the email provider you're using secured by 2-factor authentication?

If it's a gmail account, the password change won't take effect for 24 hours. Use the old one until then. (You'll get an email that your password was changed. If you don't answer it, the password change takes effect 24 hours after you changed it. But if someone else changed it, you can still log in, respond to the email and cancel the change - within 24 hours.)
