I've had many smart phones, all of which you can have the email and text alerts be two different sounds. The HTC One M8 is setup just like they are. You select the notification sound in the settings app and that changes the email alert. You then go into the text app and from the settings there you can change the text alert to something else. Simple, except the text sound will not change. I've tried everything. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry man, I got nothing. I've looked throughout my settings and in 4 years of Android haven't been unable to change my messaging app notification sound. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

All my previous smart phones were motorolla Droids. Razr, razr maxx, maxx HD, etc and they all had that option. This is my first HTC and Im really regretting it. Its crazy not to give us the option to change each alert sound.

That's just it...it DOES have this option. I have mine set up and it does it with not problem. I don't think this is an HTC issue...maybe take it to the carrier, which I assume is Verizon based on your previous devices.
