Email Push Sync Issue

I had some delays on Wifi but not on cellular with my HTC 10.
I need to do some re-testing using Wifi at home and at work to see if I get the same results.

I've installed Inbox alongside Gmail and it seems improved after one day, although my personal phone wasn't on me much today. Will need more testing. I can deal with the double notifications.

It has been happening to me a lot and just recently Hangouts got really bad too. I missed 3 Hangouts messages today, on both Wifi and LTE. They wouldn't show up unless I went to the Hangouts app and looked at the chat list, at which point it would show up and I'd see the unread bold messages at the top of the list. Also, if I Hangouts was already in one of those messages, switching to Hangouts would just suddenly show all those missed messages.

I also did a test on my friends phone while on LTE. Sent myself a message from his phone and waited. 25 minutes later, nothing. I opened the app and voila, it's there.

There is a serious bug.

Interesting note.
On my S7 Edge i found that with IPv6 i had delays with hangouts and google voice messaging. (gmail i think as well but i was focused on other apps at the time) This was also worse on WiFi.
I created a new APN using IPv4 and that fixed my issues. The odd thing is on WiFi it also fixed my issues. I didnt know the APN could also affect WiFi settings. But sure enough google voice was the worst. It was not updating on IPv6.
Im using a TMO branded phone if it matters and Time Warner Cable for WiFi.

UPDATE -
Although i dont have a PIxel i was having sync issues with gmail. I have since been able to fix that.
Back story. Yahoo mail made me change my password, so i did, then the app needed to be updated with the change. So i did. Then i stopped getting notifications on yahoo mail app. So i went to settings, applications, Mail for yahoo app, clicked Storage, clicked Clear Cache and Clear Data.
Then went back to the app and updated my accounts. They were still there but i just had to click on them to re-initialize them. That fixed that issue.
So i also did the same for the google mail app.
That also fixed my notifications issue and fixed the delayed response in getting mail and notification on my phone.
Can someone try to clear cache and clear data on the gmail app in settings and see if that fixes your delays / notification issues with the pixel.

I don't use the Gmail app - I highly recommend BlueMail. It's a phenomenal client with tons of customizations and capabilities, and I've never experienced lags, holdups, queues, or anything of that sort with any service I've used, be it Gmail, IMAP, or POP.
