Emoji?

if you use handcent sms app and download the handscent emoji app you will be able to both receive and send emoji with no problems. When you go to settings in handscent there is an entire emoji settings section

I've been using Handscent all day, and so far it's all good. I've got it set up exactly the way that i want it, and the only thing missing is the number counter on the icon itself. If there's a way to get that, i can't find it. Too bad that i can't use the little android icons, that are on this page.:D

I use an app that's perfect with them: Handcent SMS. Give it a whirl. I use the Darkness theme. :P

Used that app for one day, and then it crashed. I liked the android theme with it, but it was a no go. As you stated before, the emoji program has to be integrated within the OS, in order for it to work properly with ANY phone. Apple did it, and i believe that JB 4.1 has it set up that way. Since i can't get JB 4.1 on my Vivid, i'm willing to wait until my contract is up, and try a new phone.:(

Noooooooo, you mustn't give up on the Vivid!!!! I love it so. But as for crashing... Are you using a custom ROM?

My Vivid is stock. Right out of the box. I've added "live wallpapers", and a few apps from the market, that's it. Spring of next year my contract is up, and if i can't get JB 4.1, so is the Vivid. Sorry.:(

Awww, well, before you do switch to a better phone, why not put the best stable, fastest ROM in my opinion? WildChild Illuminati Series. I have it running on my phone. Look through my WildChild Thread and you should see screenshots of it and it's also overclocked to 1536 MHz dual core.

I'll give it a look. I still would like emojis for my granddaughter. Do they work on that custom Rom?:-\

As long as you install them, yes. :) The ROM is based on stock, however, debloated, overclocked, and there are lots of tweaks. I looooooove it!!! Super stable!!! :)

Here's the link for the site:

WCXXPERIA-NCE ILLUMINATI SERIES

It honestly depends on the website's scripts. Some websites have set emoticons, while other websites use the system default of your device.

Operation A7X: Let me know, if either one of these can be added to that Rom that you are talking about (WCX Illuminati). I only have a MacBook Pro.Originally Posted by Maqical

They both have Emoji's bulit into the apps

I'll pretend like I can understand that...as for the app compatibility, I will be able to run it as a User App, I mean, it should still work, no?

I don't know, so that's why i'm asking you. I got that from XDA Dev., but was told that i couldn't root with my MacBook Pro because of "driver incompatibility". Now, i'm really lost!

Eww, a MacBook? How dare you! XD but anyways, you'd need a Windows machine and I could give you the correct files.

Never rooted. What is a custom recovery?

Ah, so you're kinda new at this? Hey, everyone starts somewhere, and I'll help you the best I can. A custom recovery does the same things as a stock recovery, only more like allowing you to flash a new ROM onto your phone, creating NAND backups of your phone and many more options. In order to flash a custom recovery onto any Android, the bootloader must be unlocked, and unfortunately enough, the Vivid is locked from the get-go. I can't help you from Mac because I hate Apple and don't know what formats a Mac runs. But if you get ahold of a Wondows machine, I can send you the 3 files you'll need to unlock your bootloader. WARNING: UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER WILL FACTORY RESET YOUR PHONE. SO BACK UP WHATEVER YOU WANT TO KEEP (contacts, SMS, apps, etc.) Then just follow the instructions given on HTCDev.com and you'll have an unlocked bootloader in about 5 minutes

Let's let it go. I like my Android phone, but i use a MacBook Pro for a reason...It's much better than a P.C. My next Android will have JB, or maybe even KLP.

P.S. IMO, saying that you "hate Apple", is dumb!:p

Well, come on, there's a reason you can only do dev stuff on a Linux or Windows machine. ;) But, have you decided on if you're gonna root or not?
