After using this phone for over 2 weeks, EMUI is now my favorite version of Android, I don't understand why so many people hate it.

The more I use it the more it is growing on me. If you haven't checked it out, go to the honor 8 XDA thread there are some awesome themes. My favorite so far is call deep blue.

Honestly, I think Huawei/Honor, LeEco, and some of these other riding Chinese OEM are on to something. Yeah purists deride them, but they add features thru their skin that add utility, and keep it to where it's familiar to a broad set of people. It may seem different at first, but the changes work. That's part of the great thing about Android.

Edit: of course, this is all matter of opinion.

I personally liked the stock Honor 8 software from day one. I've not even thought about using my Nova Pro launcher at all. The software on the Honor is a hybrid of both apple and Android and its interface is extremely seamless. I'm unsure why so many don't like it. I prefer it over stock pure Android any day.

Probably familiarity ... Many people don't like change. For me the biggest issue was the lack of app drawer though emui 5 gives you that option.

I got used to not having a drawer before the beta, but the beta made me realise how much I like having it. Haven't bothered with Nova since getting the honor though, so that shows how much EMUI has matured.

The biggest convenience of nova for me is that it lets you backup home screens so setup on a new phone is quicker especially for people like me who go through lots of phones. Otherwise, emui 5 is perfectly fine as is for me.

As other users have said, since EMUI is so different from Android in general, that is probably why they dislike it. However, like any new UI, launcher, etc, it takes a while to get used to, and then it can work great for you. :)

I have spent a couple months learning how to use KLWP, and all the fun things you can do to it. I set it up and took it off 30 minutes later.

I think you nailed it. It's a familiarity thing, not that one flavor is necessarily better or worse. It's finding the one that fits you.

Thank you! It is definitely a familiarity thing: we tend to go for what is known to us, and anythijg foreign to us as far as experiences go may cause us fear or uncertainty.
