Encryption

If I enable encryption on my note 3 I know I need to enter a password when the device turns on. However am I forced to use the same 6 digit password as a password on the lock screen?

My current setup is to use llama to enable a pin when I am away from my home wifi network, and remove the pin when I am home. Ideally I'd also prefer my device be encrypted, but not if that means using a pin 24x7 any time I look at my phone even when I'm home.

I have enabled encryption before, but only when required by exchange and that also required a pin, so I've never been able to test the above scenario.

Any one know for sure?

Also, once the phone is encrypted, can it be decrypted?

Also I found a previous post saying the 6 digit password for encryption becomes your permanent unlock code for the lockscreen as well.

That is correct. That password is the only option you have once it is setup.
The only way to go back is to factory reset your device, but that would permanently delete all of your data.

Also another word of caution. On a previous phone HTC One m7 when I had a software update OTA it informed me I had to decrypt first.
No problem I thought until I found out that decrypt means factory reset.
So every upgrade is a full wipe which sucks.
If anyone has an encrypted Note 3 let us know if it too is stuck on the firmware you encrypt with and any upgrades requite a wipe.

Hi, I have had encrypted Both devices (Note 3 and Note 10.1).
When Note 3 got an Update message it states me to it unencrypt it first. At that moment i decided to unencrypt both. There was no wipe needed because there was an unencrypt option in both devices.
