OK, then more confusion. I dont have a black bar on my Nexus 7. So Google is ok with an HTC One that has a black menu bar while the Nexus and S4 dont?

You do have a black bar on your nexus 7. It's where the home and back buttons are.

What's interesting is that htc solved this is problem on both the one X and the pre production one units (with a long press of the multi task and back buttons respectively). That elegant solution was then missing from the production units. Any explanation that doesn't involve influence from Google doesn't really make sense.

Their infighting is pretty pathetic IMHO. Any Android newb will see the negativity here and be.........surprised. Although I'm seeing less and less of it recently though.
