Engadget says EVO a little better than Epic in their Epic Review!

It's nice that you're trying to share with the community, but please don't post .apk's. It's a big no-no.

Actually posting apk's is not a no-no as long as the apk is not warez. That's why it's one of the options in the attachment manager. Having said that, I don't know how the new flash player fits in to the context of this conversation, so I'm removing both posts.

I think if you read their article the EVO only came out ahead because of the price difference. Absent that difference the EPIC was considered the better phone.

Maybe you should read the article....

Quote "Only thing is, the EVO is also on that short list for us -- and the better camera, bigger screen, and $50 savings versus the Epic still make it our winner in this 4G shootout."

Quote "Despite what you may have heard to the contrary, we'll echo what we said in our look at the AT&T and T-Mobile models that it still doesn't perform as well as a traditional LCD in direct sunlight, though it isn't completely washed out; in our experience, we could always make out the contents of the screen if we squinted hard enough."

The Epic is quite a bit thicker too although the weight is similar.

It comes down to whether you want a physical keyboard slider. And the issue of AMOLED screens in sunlight will be an issue for some users.

Exactly. On paper, the Epic is "better" than the Evo because of the technology in play. If that's what's important to you, you have your decision. Device experiences will fluctuate depending on the user. I was playing with a friend of mines Captivate, and honestly, aside from the screen it was the same experience as using my Evo (minus the difference between HTC's skin and Samsungs). You want a keyboard, get the Epic. You don't want a keyboard, and don't want to pay the extra $50, get the Evo.

Keyboards are dead just look at the BB torch. Less then week out all ready. Marked down fifty percent

That had nothing to do with a keyboard and everything to do with BB releasing an already outdated phone and bringing absolutely nothing new to the table. The Torch had fail written all over it when announced.

And except for the fact that the Galaxy S's GPU trounces the Evo's.

I got to use a friends EVO 4G this past weekend - first tim to see one in the wild - and I was very impressed. I personally hate physical keyboards so the Epic wouldn't do anything for me. I have a Storm1 and had been holding out for the DroidX but didn't really like the moto blur overlay and it felt very glitchy compared to another friends Droid Inc. and of course the iPhone4 which is very smooth and polished compared to the DX. That said - I want a larger screen than the iPhone4 has to offer. I liked the EVO so much it had me considering leaving Verizon to go to sprint to get this phone...but supposedly the Droid Pro from Motorola will not run motoblur...so I think I may hold out until November to see what happens. I really wish Verizon had an equivalent to the EVO - as I think it is the best all around phone on the market.

In the end it doesn't matter what Engadget, CNET, or even AC says. The only opinion that matters is the one that each of you have based on your experience with each device & which one best fits your needs and personal style.

That's where I stated user experience may vary ... if I'm not using applications that utilizes the GPU, I won't notice the difference. I don't play a lot of games on my phone. I have one or two, but really ... I don't think that extra horsepower is going to do much for Uno or Blackjack. The Homerun game, probably, but we're not talking the difference between a Pentium 3 and a quad core here. Tweetdeck, email, the things I use MY phone for, and the things my friend uses HIS for, the GPU isn't that much of a factor. Now, his live wallpaper may be better, but I didn't play with that.

I was gonna get the Epic but I didn't think it was worth the extra $50.

Really? Over a 2 year contract, $50 is peanuts. You'll spend close to $2200, plus taxes and fees, over 2 years for an Evo, $2250 for an Epic. $50 would be the least of my concerns.

I think the samsung is a cool phone but I cant do the touch wiz... I dont like it... I think it would have killed if it had been vanilla android... I'll take sense over TW any day... But thats just me though..

The Epic is a nice phone, but I don't like TouchWiz. It looks like its trying too hard to look like an iPhone -- with a grid of apps. I don't understand why someone who likes Android would want that.

I just see this as a win for Android! Remember, its Android vs everything else, NOT Android vs Android!

Honestly, if the evo dont get stock 2.2 root by aug 31, im getting the epic... the fps is bugging the hell outta me lol... im dying to get cyanogen on it

I would like to root also but I hear the they have not got 4g working yet. I live in a 4g city and use it time to time. If they can get everything working I would deff root. But I would never get another Samsung, there instinct was garbage and what they do to other companies when it comes to the screens are a big deal breaker. How many manufactures have to stop and put there phone on a waiting list all because Samsung would rather use all there inventory for there phones and make people have to wait just to get a phone with one of there screens. They really have did the HTC Droid Inc completely wrong. It's NOW starting to ship again after 2 months of waiting for Samsung to start production on these screens for it. They sure as Hell made sure they could have enough for there phones and make others wait.

I have a EVO rooted stock 2.2 and 4G works just fine. The trick was to not install the OTA update and root first with 2.1.

That being said, I think the Epic looks like a pretty cool phone but I'm pretty much over sliders at this poin.
