I agree, ever since it came on the phone I've had nothing but issues with pictures failing and not sending. I shut it off because I can't deal with the failure rate. Rather send compressed pictures that actually go through.Enhanced Messaging on AT&T SUCKS!! Since both my brother and myself got the updates for our S7 Edges, and turned this feature on, 95% of our pictures fail. Just now I tried to send him a photo of a pokemon capture, I sent it 3 times, all 3 failed (he couldnt see it). I turned off enhanced messaging, and it went thru just fine. And its not just with him, ANYONE I send a photo to fails, until I turn off Advanced Messaging, then it works fine. Oh and we are both post paid and so so on, but the failure rate is pretty unacceptable (some occasionally get thru)
Interesting, so basically they rolled this out and the servers can't handle it? It will remain off on my phone until the issues get solved because it is practically unusable and creates a horrible and aggravating social conversation with people.I actually spent almost 2 hours on the phone with a very knowledgeable tech guy. He even found a phone there that had it enabled, and he sent me 4 photos, 1 failed. Granted this is an improvement over having 3/4 fail. He said that once he accessed my account, he noticed something was wrong off the bat, and wiped my profile from there servers. I had to reboot twice for it to build a new one, and thats when the failure rate went down. He also said that when messages are fired off in succession, they bog down the servers handling these, which causes them to fail. He also tested grouping all 4 photos into one message (since it was under the 10mb cap), and oddly enough, all but 1 came thru, but as individual messages. He created a ticket for the engineers to look at since now someone there experienced what I was talking about first hand, and then he told me the kicker. This "problem" has been around for awhile, since Advanced Messaging was rolled out to other devices (well before the S7), and they too had issue with things failing![]()
What is Duo? I've not heard of that. The rest I would use it with have iPhone so that won't work.@Kelly Kearns Just use Duo..My Dad has an HTC M8 and my mom has a Motorola, and Duo works fine!
My thing is it shouldn't be this hit or miss, look at how flawless iMessage is. I think this is a poor attempt at trying to make advanced messaging similar to iMessage. I experience the same thing you are with some texts saying delivered, some not and some saying read. Also every now and then it will state the person is typing, but not always. At this point the compressed pics will do! Like you said the 10mb pics take forever to send, forever to download and always fail. So disappointedGlad to read about the foibles with Advanced Messaging. A friend and I, both on AT&T, both with Galaxy S7s (mine flat, his Active), have been trying it out. Main flaw I noticed is that the first text I send to him does not get a delivered or read notification. It is only when we are texting back and forth over a short period of time that delivered and read show up on the texts I send out. I'd like to see delivered and/or read show up on every text, especially the first one.
As popkurn611 mentioned, I'd rather be sure those pix go through. Besides, maybe the person I'm sending a photo to doesn't want to deal with a 10 MB file when a 500 KB file will do.
I've had this with TMO since late year and even between my sister and myself, she has an iPhone, it works perfectly. My thing is it shouldn't be this hit or miss, look at how flawless iMessage is. It works perfectly because your using standard sns and mms messaging between an android devices and iPhone! Enhanced messaging only works if both phones have it enabled in their message settings. So you are not using enhanced messaging.I've had this with TMO since late year and even between my sister and myself, she has an iPhone, it works perfectly.
Well actually I am using it, because almost everyone else I text with has Androids. It works perfectly because your using standard sns and mms messaging between an android devices and iPhone! But that doesn't mean everyone else you text on androids has it enabled on their end tooWell actually I am using it, because almost everyone else I text with has Androids.
