Recently, I updated my Epic 4G Touch to Jelly Bean. The only issue I had was that I lost the ability to send and receive mms messages. I have a pre-paid plan on the Sprint network through Flash Wireless. I called up my carrierand they had me update the MMSC URL by entering a dialer code. While in the menu, I noticed an item 'LTE APN Settings'. Does anybody know what that is?

Not sure exactly what that is but its not LTE (4g).

Epic 4g Touch was designed for WiMax 4g and not LTE (4g).

I wish it was as easy as a toggle setting to switch radio frequencies for 4g usage.

Under Advanced, there is a section for LTE Status. So if the device doesn't have LTE capability, any clue what checking the box would do?

I tired to enable it for the hell of it... it started asking for a SIM card for certain apps or functions.

I assume Samsung is trying to make a modular firmware for most models that are compatible. Or there is an Galaxy S2 variant that has LTE in the wild somewhere.

I kept mines enabled but I haven't received any SIM prompts.

One place i remember was the Sprint Hotspot app. With LTE enabled it asked for a SIM card, I disabled LTE and it worked fine.

I always get SIM prompts with Sprint Hotspot even before I enabled LTE. I just always assumed it was a software bug that hasn't been worked out yet.

Could be. I just never saw that prompt until that.

Besides, our S2's don't have LTE radios :p . Weirder things have happened, i'm sure a group of hackers have a WiMAX radio transformed into an LTE radio somewhere.

It's possible for a variety of reasons that something was included in the software that is not included in the hardware.
